Dave Hanan Memorial Car Shoot V Saturday June 18th 9AM-4PM

Ever shoot a machine gun M3/A1 "Grease Gun",Thompson SMG "tommy gun/Chicago Typewriter", Reising M50 or M55, MG42, Shrike 5.56, MP9, MAC 10 or a .50 caliber rifle? Shoot at BX/Tannerite? AR500 steel plates? Here's your opportunity to do so as a Green NES Member. It's a light lift for a lot of bennies, including Group Buys and Karma galore.

Here's an excerpted/edited sample of the current Car Shoot Thread:

Dave Hanan Memorial Car Shoot V Saturday June 18, 2016 9AM-4PM

We welcome:
Large Calibers (.50 is fine), Signal Mortar & Cannon (no projectiles unless discussed beforehand), Binary-X like Tannerite, and NFA (fully-automatic, suppressed and short-barrel firearms)

Saturday June 18th 9AM to 4PM

This is a private event for "Green" NortheastShooters (NES) and their guests (limit of 3 guests per Green Member of NES). There is camping available; both tenting and trailer/popup. There are no hookups, but there is pit area for fire by the large pavilion.

We are setting a limit of 100 attendees at this event, and if you invite guests, please ...it is crucial that they are not rank amateurs at handling and shooting firearms. We had issues with folks who had trouble keeping their shots on the 15 foot berm at 85 yards. And some with pistols at 30 yards! So please, we're not holding qualifiers. I know that these events can be quite exciting especially to the uninitiated, but if ya can't keep it below the wall ...then practice elsewhere till you can.

Precis:
Gates open at 4:30PM Friday for primitive camping. Meet and greet starts at 9AM Saturday morning, waiver/log sign-in runs until about 9:30 or so. Then the firearms range rules are read ...10AM or so, let the shootin' commence. Then a quasi-break for lunch (details below) and again We will break temporarily at 3PM there will be a mass "cleanup" where we will quickly cleanup detritus from the range. Attention campers, Sunday morning 3D Archery starts at 8am.

When you arrive at the event, after parking, proceed to the signup table under the pavilion. Here, you will be asked to sign the MRGCI Waiver (compulsory), and the NES/MRGCI Waivers (compulsory). After signing, you will be issued your nametag on a bull-nose clip. Your NES Screen Name (avatar), (this is your "Paid" ID), and it’s also your meal ticket (that you display to get your meal). Please take care not to lose your tag, and be sure that it’s visible at all times.

NOTE: Since we will not be needing the full 200 yards of the range, EVERYONE is invited to park on the firearms range behind the zero line (unless you’re making a last minute donation). There will be large areas taped-off just behind the zero line for parking and another for setting up your canopies, pop-ups, tables, chairs and what-have-you.

All fees include a $5 donation to a pro-firearms/pro-2A organization ...ProGunNH, GONH, COMM2A, etc. a $5 meal* fee, and (for shooters*** only), miscellaneous "target expenses", and a $10 Firearm's Range compulsory fee

* - The meal is included in the entrance fee and shall consist of:

A hamburger or cheeseburger or bacon hamburger or bacon cheeseburger, or two hot dogs, all with french fries or onion rings, or half fries/half rings and a beverage (water, soda) …there will be coffee and doughnuts by donation in the morning.

Lunch: Kitchen starts serving at 12:30pm
Owing to several requests over the last few shoots, the Range will not go "cold" during the lunch break ...with one exception; there will be NO tannerite used between 12:30pm and 1:30pm. We purchase food according to the head count of paid attendees, so when the chow’s gone, it’s gone.

There will be a self-serve condiment area that will have a plethora of mustards, relishes, catsup, hot sauces, mayo, vinegar in a spray bottle, etc.

NOTE: ADDITIONAL FOOD
If an attendee wishes to purchase additional food**, they must pay an extra $5 for a “bottomless” plate. You will be served you first “regular” paid meal, then you may get back into the line, and return for your next plate …then, repeat as necessary.

**There will be an additional $5 charge (pre-paid, the extra meal/”bottomless” plate will not be available on-the-day-of) for anyone wishing to get additional food beyond the first plate. You must purchase the “bottomless” plate in advance, at the same time that you pay the attendance fee. There will be no cash register running for this event, so don’t even ask or cajole. This “bottomless” plate includes everything available on our menu including beverages. Individuals “sharing” their extra meal will be summarily executed, quartered, immolated, and banished for not less than one year from MRGCI hosted NES events.

Your nametag/ID Badge will have a graphic on it indicating that you have paid for the “bottomless” plate.

Q: Why can't I just order two cheeseburgers when I display my nametag with the “bottomless” plate graphic?
A: We (in-the-kitchen) have learned much as these NES events have progressed, and will not back-step as regards speed-of-service. In order to get everyone fed in a timely manner, please observe the rules as stated. First, display your nametag, and be served your "paid" meal. Then, afterward, you may return for seconds …thirds and what-have-you if you have paid for the “bottomless” plate.

Q: Do I have to park down by the pavilion after I drop off my gear at the range?
A: If you were reading above, you already know that EVERYONE can park at the upper level for this event. We have a 200 yard range and will be running a zero line at approximately 80 yards, so there will be plenty of parking, and a short distance to where you can setup your gear.

Q: What's with the name tag?
A: It's your ID (tells us who you are, that you paid, and that you belong here) while at the Club. And it serves as your meal ticket. Display your name tag (do not remove it or dispose of it please until you leave the property), and get your meal. And please remember to clip (clear plastic ID card holder) the name tag to your outer clothing.

Q: I'm thinking about camping, do I need a pass or something to get in and set up?
A: The gate will be open to camping NES Members who have paid for the shoot at 4:30PM on Friday. There is a grassy area next to our pond by the pavilion available for primitive camping. We have several 120VAC outlets under our nearby pavilion, along with a soda machine, and plenty of lighting. There is also a fire pit along with plenty of firewood available, and full men's and women's bathrooms. However the water is NOT potable, so please do not use the sink faucets to fill your water bottles. We have no hookups, but larger trailers and RVs are allowed. They must park in the lot above the fire pit.

*** - For the purposes of this event, a "shooter" is defined as:
An NES "green" Member or Guest who pulls a trigger (even just once) or handles a firearm on the Firearms Range. They are considered a shooter and must pay the (included) $10 Firearms Range fee. This is our insurance company talking.

This is a rain or shine event. Short of a full-blown hurricane, we will run it.
Campers welcome Friday after 4:30pm ...tenting area is by the pond, campers parking is by opportunity. Anyone who cares to camp from Friday to Sunday is welcome to.

The pavilion has open sides, but is well-lit, has several 120VAC outlets, and spacious with many seating areas, a fire pit and plenty of wood to burn.

Online payment will close at midnight Tuesday June 14th. All snail-mail payments must be post-marked on or before Monday June 13th.

We are enforcing (MRGCI) a pre-pay environment. Since we absolutely need an accurate head-count when purchasing the food, and for security reasons too. Sign-up and online pay opportunities will terminate at midnight Tuesday June 14th (snail-mail postmarked by midnight Monday June 13th). If you have not paid by that date, then you're not coming, so please observe this rule. WE WILL NOT accept at-the-gate/day-of payments. IF YOU CAN’T MAKE IT DUE TO WHATEVER CIRCUMSTANCES, DO NOT SIMPLY KARMA YOUR ENTRY AT THE LAST MOMENT WITHOUT FIRST NOTIFYING ME VIA PM THROUGH THE FORUM’S PERSONAL MESSAGE SYSTEM. THAT GOES FOR CHANGES IN GUESTS TOO.

DO NOT SHOW UP CASH-IN-HAND NOT HAVING MADE ANY SIGNUP/CONTACT OR ARRANGEMENTS AND EXPECT TO PAY ON SATURDAY ...I WILL SEND YOU PACKING ...NO JOKE
If there are special circumstances*, and you have paid, but cannot make it, we (MRGCI) will refund your money. The weather is not an excuse. However, you may be sacrificing $5 to GONH.

*special circumstances - "Something came up, and I couldn't make it." ...obviously, this is not an example of a special circumstance.

American Weapon Systems (AWS) - Rindge, NH
They will be at the shoot selling ammunition and shooting accessories, please let me know in this thread if you have any special requests. Owing to the current state of supply and demand, we will attempt to remain current on this matter info-wise. Please check with Ty and Elise from AWS for a pre-order form ...for the folks who would like to pre-order Shockwave (Tannerite). They will have a limited supply at the event.

RULES:

NFA [National Firearms Act of 1934 and subsequent edits including Title II] (full-auto, SBR, SBS, suppressed, AOW):The full-auto folk will be to the left, and there will be a stretch of the line reserved for their use for safety and "handling" reasons. And depending upon conditions forecast there may be some overhead coverage from the conditions away from the line. SBRs, SBSs, and suppressed will shoot from the “regular” area along the zero line, provided you take 100% responsibility for anyone that you can legally permit to use your hardware. Any shots off-the-berm will not be tolerated. Please PM me if you're bringing the NFA machine gun stuff.

NOTE: SlideFire (and firearms equipped with bump-fire-type stocks) rifles will shoot from the NFA area also.

NOTE: We have eliminated the special NFA area for suppressed firearms and SBRs. Everyone who wants one seems to have one now, so please handle your suppressed firearm, or SBR as a normal firearm as regards this shoot, and muster with everyone else in the same queue, and use the same area of the zero line. There is no longer any special area reserved for SBR or suppressed firearm use. The fully automatic firearms are still restricted to the special NFA area.

The plan is to run similar to what we have been doing for the last several shoots at MRGCI. Running some relatively fast heats to start the shoot, by limiting the shooters to one firearm at-the-line ...empty your firearm be it 30 rounds or 1, then make your firearm safe and with open/flagged chamber, wait till all shooters are through, then retreat as a group to let the next heat in. Timing will be left to the RSO’s discretion.

In other words, for the first several heats, we will attempt to give all shooters a chance to take a crack at "fresh" sheet metal and glass. We'll employ this method until everyone has had a “go” at the vehicle.

Each shooter will return their equipment to rear tables if they are not participating in the current heat or volley. Please do not crowd the front line area, your RSOs will be wearing fluorescent vests, and will be helping to direct traffic, and provide commands at-the-line. There will be tables and benches set-back under canopies behind a cordoned area where you can set up your gear ...first come, first served. A note about canopies: If you have a pop-up and wish to bring it, please do so.

This will be enforced folks, please clear the front-line tables so that everyone may get a chance to use the forward space for their firearms when it is their turn at-the-line. Once a few heats have been run, the RSOs may decide to simply let folks shoot who care to. Again, it's up to the RSO's discretion.

All manner of firearms ...full-auto, .50 BMG, etc. ...including signal mortars, cannon (no projectiles please unless specific permission has been granted), and Tannerite (within reason ...we don't want to lose sections of the berm or throw rocks into the air) ...no armor piercing, steel core (on our steel targets), tracer or incendiary ammo allowed.

**Guests: 3 person is the limit on the number of Guests. This is an NES "Green" event, and NES Members take precedent over "guests". (if guests have considerable experience, the number is negotiable) that you invite provided: The NES Member who invited them is responsible for their actions/behavior. If the guests can't observe the basic rules, then they will be dealt with immediately, and it will reflect on that NES Member.

NES Members who invite guests who are profoundly unprepared (or are themselves unprepared) to handle firearms in a safe manner should not be learning those skills for the first time at an NES event at MRGCI (and I am speaking solely on MRGCI's behalf here). The environment of an MRGCI/NES Shoot while quite amenable and friendly can be very disorienting to even an experienced firearms user unaccustomed to a large group of folks at the line, volleys and Tannerite explosions. These distracting factors could lead to unintentionally poor firearms handling, thus leading to unintended consequences.

Don't be scared off, this is a family-friendly event among a family-friendly group, but please, be confident in your abilities, and the abilities and trainability of those that you invite.

Bonus Notes: If you take 202E into New Hampshire, you'll pass an Atlas Pyrotechnics retail store on your left just as you're exiting Winchendon, MA and entering Rindge, NH.

Targets: At least one vehicle to be named later. Paper targets on strapping frames. Clays, and perhaps some other more interesting objectives. There may be several available. Tannerite is okay to use within reason (please pay attention to this thread for a detailed explanation). Blowing sections from our berm, or blowing up items from home is not allowed. Certainly plastic, glass, large sections of wood, large metal fasteners and anything that would create potentially hazardous schrapnel is verboten.

There will also be some AR500 steel plates hanging on the range. Individuals using “safe” cartridges may shoot at these plates. If you are handling a firearms using ammo that’s capable of damaging the AR500 steel, then please refrain from plinking at the steel. Handguns, MGs, and cartridges up to .308 should be OK provided: the speed is sub 3,000 fps (speed at point of impact), and is none of the following; steel core, AP (armor piercing), solid copper bullets or BBs.

*other than paper targets

DO NOT bring any cannon or mortar unless you first consult with me via PM/email/phone call. NO EXCEPTIONS. You show up with a cannon or mortar without consultation, then you're leaving it in the vehicle it arrived in. If you have a problem with that, I will show you to the gate. We have no idea whether these mechanisms have been shot before, and whether they are even proven safe to handle pressures and anything else involved in common use. The only cannon/mortar that have used projectiles in-the-past were proven pieces of equipment run by responsible, proven crews.

Not to be a killjoy, but this has everything to do with safety, respect to the Club property, and insurance oriented factors.

We enjoy these NES Green shoots and are very permissive versus many, most, or perhaps all other Clubs. Please follow the rules, and we will continue to be so.

Brass:pick up your own brass. RSOs will have an eye-out for brass rats. Violators will be warned, and habitual offenders will be publicly shamed. Tarps to catch brass are welcome if you have a mind to.

Full Auto: The kind folks bringing along the fully automatic hardware have "special needs" and as such, will have a reserved area that'll make it easier for them to get in-and-out, and easier for others to participate and or enjoy the show. For those who are familiar with the layout, the left-side end of the shooting (zero) line will be reserved for the NFA folk, and an area will be taped-off for this purpose. If you are bringing any full-auto firearms, please PM me to let me know, what you intend to bring, and whether all of your stuff is carried in one vehicle.

Volunteers: If you want to volunteer to be a Range Safety Officer, or take part in Setup,Cleanup, Medic, or BX Warden help, please let me know by PM or in-this-thread. NOTE: a footnote about being a volunteer RSO****

There is no "In" list per se, when your payment is received, you (and your guest count) are added in green to the only list below …the PAID list.

Stuff to bring if you got 'em (and care to bring 'em): popup canopy, folding/collapsible chair, personal table, sunscreen, a hat, insect repellant (though we haven’t really had any related issues in-the-past), eye and ear protection, etc.

Again, there is no "In" list. When payment has been received, your name and your +'s appear on the list below.
