Glock 21 or 1911 - which one should I buy?

Zev tech glock... worst of both worlds

Want to tacticool up perfection with enough straight lines to make a modern style architect jealous?

Texture so agressive that you can control the gun with blood on your hands? And using the gun with all its sharp edges will most assuredly draw a shit ton of blood.

Want to pay around the cost of a high end 1911 but get 1 12 dollar non oem mag?

Want buttons so large they match the font size on your moms phone?

A gun as tight as a 1911 that requires 1000 round break in

A 3 lb trigger

Want people to know you operate

A frail gun thats super expensive yet takes glock parts?

Last but not least now you can look down on glock owners as poors and 1911 owners with disdain because your polymer gun costs more than their 1911
This is pure gold.

I award you 🥦🥦🥦🥦🥦/5

Also shot a couple Springfields. As much as NES is big mad, and for fine reason, they make a nice 1911.
My $800 Springfield in 9mm is far more reliable than my $1,500 Colt in 45.

I get why people get mad at springfield, what I dont get is why people get selectively mad. If you ask people at Colt why they dont sell AR's to civilians they will say that its because "civilians dont need them to hunt".

Sounds to me your looking for some arm candy to take to the range. I don’t own one but the 1911 fits that bill because it seems most love them. I’m building a Glock 21 460rowland conversion. Glock seems just get the job done gun. Not really a looker.
You can also get the 460 Rowland conversion for 1911’s. More power and still a looker.

Why does NES hate on Springfields 1911?

I always hear good things about their guns.

Is it because anything under $1K=skinflint?

Depending on the day, NES is mad at everyone. Including Colt.

I need your help here. I hear the 1911 can shoot down Japanese Zeroes and won 2 world wars
If you have smaller, lady like hands, then it'll probably fit fairly well.
Nothing is drop-in and has to be fit.
They also come with one of these, and you can use the "I only need 7 rounds" line at the range and tell people they shoot too fast. The old buzzards at the range will welcome you with open arms.

Another issue is I am afraid the Glock is a skinflint gun, I dont want people to think I am one of the poors. But Glocks seem to have great ergonomics and there is enough Glock bling in the aftermarket that I could turn it into a non-skinflint gun.

Works well if you have larger hands but honestly its like trying carrying a 2x12.
Plenty of drop-in aftermarket stuff, but you'll have to go full retard to be accepted in the tactical-bling sector.
You'll need gold inlaid serrations on the slide. Some kind of green electroplated trigger. A 4 D-cell flashlight underneath and a t.v. set on top.
You'll also need these, a beard, this hat (to be worn backwards) and a set of these.
At one point Glock was offering a voucher for these, but it was pre-covid.

Help me decide which one I should buy.

Ps: 40 is still g@y so don't tell me to get one of those.

Its called 10mm spl.

I think there is plenty of hate for colt here too.

The problem with colt is its like picking on the retarded kid at the playground at this point.

Their AR's are meh... and they only have crappy 1911s and revamped wheel guns.

Springfield is at least trying not to suck

Ah, got it.

So, the same NES that hates Hollywood but tells everyone to go see Top Gun. [laugh]

Bro! Don't you know? It's not woke because Tom Cruise has the flag of Taiwan on his jacket for like 10 seconds, even though it'll upset the CCP!

I don't know how to do the pic thing of the little girl saying " why not both " , but, why not both? If you decide at some point you really don't like one of them, I am sure you could sell it no problem. I have 3 of each and like them all well enough to not consider ever selling.

I'm too old and arthritic to worry about a "go bag", I'm not going anywhere. But if did have a "go bag", it would contain a Glock rather than a 1911.

Don't buy either one
OP, you made the statement that you don't want anyone to think you are one of the poors.
This tells us that whatever your about to pick is going to be for all the absolute wrong reasons anyway.
When you make a choice based on what you want other people to think of it, you have truly made the wrong choice.
Step back, take a deep breath, and then figure out what you want with no concern about what others think.
Good luck
Best wishes

P.S. I am not taking any of this very seriously at all.

Enjoy!

Buddy of mine converted a sig platinum 1911 to 460 Rowland with a compensator. Used to appendix carry it 🤯

The Glock is objectively a better pistol. Glocks are not for everyone. I found the trigger annoying, and the aesthetics are just plain gross. I do acknowledge it's the better-designed firearm, but I don't buy things that don't make me feel happy. And Glocks don't.

I've owned about six 1911s and just one Glock 21, which I sold. So I'm biased.

I think it comes down to which one you'll shoot better, most likely, in terms of grip angle and trigger. Carry might also be a factor: the thinness of the 1911 vs the G21 is a definite consideration in that regard.
Guns are like shoes or trucks. What works for me may not work for someone else. I may want a no frills work truck, 'you' may want one of those Escalade SUT's. If it matters to you, get the more clique gun, otherwise, Glocks are the Ford F150 of the gun industry. Not the 'best', not the prettiest, but does what it's meant to do, day in and day out.

Glocks do have a rather unique grip angle, I know the 1911 does as well. I don't remember how alike or different they are, but I can tell you, switching from the HnK to a Glock was a painful learning experience, some of it was the ergo's of the different gun. Some of it may have been me, but I'm not completely convinced of that part.

you've never owned a F150 have you?

Mine was the biggest money pit ever to roll off the assembly line.

It took thousands of dollars in repairs every year to keep functional

Until the transmission failed at 62K miles..... and when we went to pull the transmission out the frame was so rotted it was beyond repair...

Now if you said a Glock was the Toyota of handguns.... I'd agree

Generally reliable, long service life, when something goes wrong with them the manufacturer steps up and fixes it for low or no cost.

Nobody ever looks at a Glock and thinks of it as anything more than the first commercially successful polymer pistol....

A 1911? I think of John Browning, 75 years of service in 4 wars as the primary sidearm of the U S Military, and to this day some 110+ years later there is still some form of 1911 used in the military.

Would I carry one? Probably not.... as a service weapon it is hard to beat a Glock 17 for practicality, but I am still a huge fan of the 1911

a Greg Derr 1911 is pure gun porn.

Your wrists are a little... dainty for a .45

You should consider something in 9mm

Insert any basic vehicle. Jesus.

If you want a gun that doesn't look cheap, get a CZ.
If you want a gun that is modern and doesn't rely on "I won 2 world wars" excuse, get a CZ.
If you want a $1500 gun that looks like a $5000 gun, get a CZ.

If you want full-size, like G17 , get a CZ SP-01
If you want a carry gun, like G19, get a CZ P-01
if you want a more of a "bling" gun, that's also an incredible shooter, get anything in CZ Shadow series.

Check out my recent post on buying a Gen4 G21. I bought a SA loaded operator 2 yrs ago for over $1300 because I got a great deal on 2200 rds of CMP ammo and just bought a LEO turn in G21 with night sights for under $400 on Gunbroker. G21 is a brink but very accurate and as previously mentioned comes with 13rd mags. No brainer for me. Anyone interested in an almost brand new Springfield Armory loaded operator?
My post/thread is "Bought a Gen4 G21, Opinions" and it's a few lines down on this page.
