As I understand, the "S" marking designates the rifle had been upgraded for a new diameter ammo back in the day. One Im eyeballing has an "S" mark and also a "Z" mark, both on the receiver along with a dot. I seem to vaguely remember the dot meaning a higher quality steel. (?) Also seem to vaguely remember reading somewhere about the "Z" marking but cant recall what the significance is and havent found anything online. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

IIRC:
Z= recontoured breech
S= Breech reemed for the 1905 S-Patronen; spitzer bullet
.= neues metal = new improved steel
