Getting LTC A restrictions removed

I tried searching but either I suck at internetting, or this hasn't been covered so here is my question.

I have had my LTC-A with hunting target restrictions for 4 years. Had no problem getting it, never been in any kind of trouble before or after the license. When I got it the issuing officer said that they don't issue unrestricted licenses to pretty much anyone other than business owners that carry or collect large sums of money, and or to people who are in direct threat of harm or some wording like that.

Since the time my license was issued, I have become a small business owner in my town of issuance and occasionally do have to collect money or make decent sizable deposits. So it sounds to me that I would now meet the requirements of the issuing department. Is there a procedure for asking or appealing to the local police to have my restrictions removed?
Thanks

I would go into the local PD and fill out the paperwork for a renewal. Yours probably does not expire for another year or 2 but I don't think they can deny you an early renewal for upgrading your license (I'm not positive). Bring in your business paperwork such as your Federal EIN and your local business registration. That is all I needed for my LTC and I paid for it with a business check. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Not sure what town you're in but hopefully you have a reasonable licensing officer. Be sure to have a number of reasons why you need the license upgraded. If it's just the fact that you make cash depostis, they'll tell you to call the PD for an escort when you want to do deposits. Give them so many reasons that they have no choice. Collecting cash on the road is a good one. Traveling with valuables is another. Late hours, questionable area of town etc etc.

I can't see them being enthused about sending an escort. It can't hurt to ask, but it depends on your town. Also, this has been covered many times. It's basically up to the issuing authority's whim, or established department policy if they have one.

Sorry if it has been covered before, I tried searching but couldn't find anything with the same circumstances. I just wasn't sure if there was a proper procedure or some official form I needed to fill out to apply for a restriction removal or something. I appreciate all of your help and I will be contacting my licensing officer tomorrow and see where it goes. Thanks again

There is no state-wide procedure and there is no form.

Go and have a talk with them, ask how to proceed. They can lift restrictions and re-issue with same number/exp. date for no fee IF THEY WANT TO! They can also do an early renewal IF THEY WANT TO! Likewise they can tell you "sorry, wait for normal renewal" if they want to.

Everything is up to the PD, which may or may not have an established policy.

Good luck

Legal Action?

If you go in and your local PD refuses to lift the restrictions and you feel you have a good reason still to have them lifted, is there any legal process or procedure where you can appeal their refusal?

Or is that the end of it because they set the restrictions and they said no?

Thank you all for your help! I took the advice provided here and contacted the licensing officer. Well initially I never actually got to talk to the officer but spoke with a VERY helpful officer or staffer that sounded like they have dealt with this many times before. They gave me pretty clear instructions on what to do and after submitting the required material and a few conversations with the licensing officer I received my new license with restrictions removed. It was a bit of work, but I must admit everyone that I dealt with at the PD was very nice and helpful

I got my restriction removed with a call ahead from an attorney followed by a letter of request from me. Upgrade came in the mail about a month later, no extra charge. Ask the attorney to review the letter before you send it in.
