Get your butt to Boston - GOAL Super Alert - Wed 28th!!!!

You are correct not to be surprised. A lot of politicians have finally figured out that gunowners, as a group, are some of the laziest, most apathetic voters out there. More potheads show up on Boston Common for their weed rallies than have ever showed for a pro-gun rally. I've done some volunteering/informal advising for a former Republican MA State Rep. A lot of times he would receive just a small handful of calls/emails/letters from constituents when anti-gun bills would come up. On two or three different occasions I tried getting enough people for a pro-gun fundraiser/meet your rep night and got nothing but crickets.

We can beat our chest sand scream "muh rights!" but unless gunowners can get organized and start throwing these politicians out on their asses on election day we simply won't figure in the political calculus.

Any updates? Do we know if the committee has scrapped any of the proposed bills yet, or which ones they’ll recommend? Or when they will announce that?

Resurrecting this thread briefly to post that GOAL is going to be doing an advocacy work shop on October 20.

Here is the link if you want to sign up for it.

With friends like these...

I hope GOAL pulls its endorsement of him, because right now he’s running around saying GOAL supports him as he’s calling for a renewal of the AWB. Makes us all look pretty stupid.

I know you’re saying we should call him, Mike S, but has GOAL itself called him and threatened to put out a news release removing his endorsement if he doesn’t realize his mistakes?

FYI:

Sen. Moore Named NCSL Appointee to Public Safety Advisory Committee

"Senator Michael O. Moore (D-Millbury) was recently appointed the National Conference of State Legislatures representative on the Public Safety Advisory Committee (PSAC). The PSAC was established in 2013 and consists of 42 representatives from both traditional and non-traditional public safety responder associations and organization as well as members of local state, territorial, tribal and federal governments. The committee formed to assist the First Responder Network Authority in its mission to build, deploy, operate and maintain the FirstNet Network. "

If anyone needs me to hold anything at my new home in the Midwest until you sort out a better option (ie move out of state), i’ll be making the last load to move out permanently some time in the beginning of November I think if everything goes as planned.

Are these kinds of things usually ‘effective now’ or just ‘from yadayada date moving forward...’

If it’s effective immediately, there may be an emergency trip on the last legal day to get all my Preban (paid 5 times what they’re actually worth) shit out...i’ll be damned if someone is going to attempt to steal my overpriced rifles from me :D
No. Just a big, fat plain no! I have no plans to comply with any of this un-Constitutional shit! So... I get arrested! Big deal! Really scares me! Got arrested by NCIS and court-martialed , convicted, jailed and still survived. Just got to have the balls you were born with and refuse to submit to these tyrants!

What matters is a show of numbers. Pesky job thing.

If you think anything other than "show of numbers" counts, note that:
  1. Important people will be allowed to go first. This means anyone representing an anti-gun group; anyone with an MD; anyone who is the sort who could get an unrestricted LTC in Brookline just by telling the licensing officer who they are or what position they hold; etc. Plus Jim Wallace on our side.
  2. Most of the recognized important people will be against us. That's a it part of why they are recognized as important.
  3. Once the importants speak, many/most of the legislators will leave the room and those who drew short straws or lack seniority will stay and pretend to listen to your concerns. No minds will be changed and no agendas shifted. Chances are they will be annoyed you are wasting their time because they have no interest in the hearing other than seeing it end.
And no, this is not a position statement from me but just an observation as to how these things really work.
That is pretty obvious.....
