I need some help identifying a WWII German Helmet.

Does anyone here have a book on them?

The rim is stamped 4869 & 8913.

It is green and has the black decal/paint with a Swastika & wings.

It looks like a M35 or M42 but I was hoping to use the stampings to properly identify it.

m35 an m40 were the last with the rolled rim. What color is the eagle/swastika decal? Gold? silver? A picture would help a ton!

If it's a M35 it should have the black/white/red decal on the opposite side of the eagle decal.

not all helmets had decals. some had both decals, some had one and most after had none due to snipers picking up on the colors in the battlefield. Also check the color of you eagle decal. Silver is Heer and gold is Kriegsmarine.

It is a Kriegsmarine helmet, and now in my possession.

I left it in my truck for now until it stops raining.

At least now the Luger and the helmet are now reunited. They were brought back together from WWII, and lived in the same residence untouched since 1946. They are joined by the uniform of the GI who liberated them.
