On the way home from the range today, my son (separate vehicle) called and said "Dad, I forgot to tell you that gas at Irving is $2.64/gallon." I drove over there and the line to get into the station was outrageous. The sign said $2.58! Sure hope that it stays this way for a while, or drops even further.

As an aside, I shot the new-to-me S&W Model 36 and it was quite accurate to 10 yards (my maximum with a snubby). We had our little competition and he bought lunch again![laugh]

Zounds! We have gas at $2.79 at Katie's Store in Otis. Still at $2.97 in North Adams and Pittsfield from what I saw today.

i gotta move back to the ghetto!

price near me: $3.29 for premium (Burlington, Lexington, Bedford). Lowest price is the gas station on Lexington Street ($3.15 / gal) - but the place is always crowded with cars.

price in Lynn: $2.93, too bad I filled up on Wednesday.

my cahhh takes premium only so I pay a little more per gallon [wink]

If it was me I'd have siphoned what was in the tank onto the ground just to spend that. Of course, the sad part is that gas under $3/gal is officially cheap to us.

My F150 at 14 MPG is happy to see gas at under 3 bucks a gallon, It was 2.63 when I bought it and it sat most of the summer as I drove my Toyota to work and used the motorcycles on weekends.

My wife is happy to see premium under 3 bucks for her clown car (little german ragtop)

For those of you who fly GA, the good news is 100LL is only 5.50 a gallon... so figuring a 10 gallon/hr burn rate its only 55 bucks an hour for fuel!

local stop and rob's prices around the corner from me have been dropping daily,2.71 a short while ago. Story on the radio said OPEC is losing it's clout as they'd like to reduce output, but are afraid if they do prices will really go down the tubes.

They're not afraid of the prices going down the tubes. In fact, if supply is cut, the prices should actually rise. They fear that global demand is softening, and there's evidence to suggest that they should be afraid of demand falling father with a supply cut.

$2.70-2.89 in Boston. About $2.70 in Stoughton, but one station is $2.65. Demand is down, supplies are up, the oil producers are sweating. Heating oil should also be down. The only thing that OPEC can do is try to cut production, but that never works as the quotas are voluntary and someone always cheats.

Oh, airline tickets seem to be down in price too.

All of which would be good if the market was better. Then again, if the market was better, demand would be higher...

It will ripple through anything that's petroleum based, I'd think.

Now if we see downward pricing pressure due to a glut of beer and hookers, McCain might have a chance!

Hookers are recession proof, or at least recession resistant. Beer prices will drop (maybe) if production and delivery prices drop.

I am happy prices are getting to be reasonable....I just hope people do not forget we still need alternative energy sources so this does not happen again. People have short memories.

I remember thinking that $1.99 gas was outrageous. OPEC has determined our tolerance for pain, and will do what they can to manipulate the price of oil accordingly.

I've found just a 20spot whenever you see it low DollarCostAverages's it out not to bad. IIRC in 2004 it was what 1.50/1.75 and we thought that was bad.
