I wonder if that is just time constraints rearing it's ugly head on the plot again. There probably is an interesting story to tell about Dany going from good queen to tyrant, but there isn't time to show it. It could be interesting. She got her start fighting "good' wars, like freeing slaves and fighting an apocalyptic army of the undead. The war in the South is not a good war, but a straight up war of conquest. It would be interesting to see Dany grapple with the realities of such a dirty war and watch as she slowly has to compromise her principles in order to win. But no time for all that, so wham, bam, roast some villagers, she's a baddie now.

    Oh well.

She might just be blind raging mad for when they chopped off the head of her GF?

Her job as queen will now be a lot easier, there aren't that many people left for her to rule. Her reign will be brief as I think Arya or Jon will end up killing her.

Now that all the infidels have been roasted alive by this terrorist attack, the Dothraki move in and establish Sharia law in the rubble of the city, while the survivors retreat to the north and wonder why they let these savages into their country in the first place.

The secret is out. Dany will never be seen as the Queen and is not the rightful heir to the throne so she wanted to destroy the city and everyone who was in it. John Snow and Arya will kill her and her dragon in the end. That's what I think anyways.

The time constraints are the producers own designs. They chose to do shorter seasons the last two. We were promised that 6 episodes was going to be OK because they are all 'feature' length... except the first two didn't even break 60 minutes. The rest so far have so much long panning filler shots without any substance...

It just feels overall lazy writing. Like without the books to go buy, the conversation isn't about what story plot to cut down anymore (because the books had way too much in there), but more 'wouldn't this look so cool... '

It's like where George Lucas took the prequel trilogy. make shit look cool in hopes people forget there isn't much story to tell...

Epic episode. Dany has always been a psychopath. She's been viciously murdering people since her dragons were born. With Jorah, Miss Sandy, and Selmy gone, she no longer has anyone to hold her back. If anything it was that idiot Jon Snow turning down Dany once again when she obviously needed some affection. The mother of dragons was pissed on mother's day. Not sure why anyone cares about King's Landing or it's inhabitants. They weren't going to support Dany. Made sense for a vengeful killer like her to burn it all down. The dragon attack was spectacular. A+.

The only negative was that Cersie's death needed to be more violent.

Oh please you all think she is bad..

If tywin lannister, or maybe stannis, or how about even joffree , or maybe you think robert baratheon haven't killed people who didnt bend the knee or didnt surrender. They have all done far worse and would do far worse than danny. The townsolk deaths are all cerseis fault, as well as any townfolk foolish enough to stay in the city when they heard dragons were coming to kings landing.

They never pretended to be anything other than cold blooded killers though. She talked a bunch of bs about being some kind and noble ruler and then firebombed a bunch of women and children. Really, shes killed more people than anyone else in the show.

So Westeros has a foreign ruler now with a foreign standing army.

At least until Arya offs Danny. Jon is definitely peacing out to North of the Wall at the end of it all.

Yep this is it exactly, she has no balancing force to weigh in on the other side.. If Jorah was alive, no way would that city have burned.

she's lost her advisors, two out of three "children" and most of her forces, she lost her trust in Tyrion and never really trusted Varys at all....and Jon definitely didn't help things by turning her down.

Tyrion's screwed. But he sort of deserves it by dropping a dime on Varys.

but these people did surrender. That's what the ringing of the bells was all about.
she's certainly unhinged at this stage of the game, there's no benevolence coming out of her rule, it's almost the Mad King part II....probably worse, for she actually burned the city her father never succeeded in burning.

out of the four people you listed, I'd say three were certainly evil. Tywin orchestrated many deaths, Joffrey was a sadist, and Stannis burned his own daughter, while Bobby B was the only one out of the group I would have liked hanging out with

Both have been on TV interviews saying basically “yeah, we squished”. Unless they’re gonna lie for one weeks buildup to something? Not like “is John dead” (or “who shot jr”) here.....

    I think she’s obeying Missandei’s final command.

That was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Nuking KL was her way of honoring her handmaid. She’s lost perspective.

Cersei and Jaime die from falling rocks? F’ing seriously? All the “who is gonna kill her” conspiracy theories and it’s a collapsing structure? And Greyworm was just looking to do some violence. He just seemed to want to murder as much as he could after Missandei got beheaded.

All in all, it was a decent 80+ minutes of sheer violence. I would swear it’ll be Arya or more likely Jon that kills Dany next week, but the way they killed off Cersei makes me wary.

EPISODE 6 SPOILERS RELEASED. OFFICIAL, TRYING TO BE WIPED FROM REDDIT

Jon Kills Dany and Bran becomes King...

That said, the leaks tell us that Jon will kill Dany in the finale, in what appears to be a bittersweet end. Tyrion will help convince him to do it, not that he needs much convincing following Daenerys’ decision to kill all those people in King’s Landing:
    JON
Jon snow finally sees Arya after they reach the Irone Throne in King’s Landing. (I think this means that he hasn’t seen her since she left Winterfell ahead of him) Dany starts executing everyone in Kings landing (Tyrion and Jon are upset) Dany has Tyrion arrested for freeing his brother. (his trial is supposed to have neither Dany or Jon present) Tyrion tries to convince Jon to turn on Dany. His family will never be safe because it threatens Dany’s legitimacy. Jon is horrified by what Dany has done to King’s Landing, and she gives speeches about how she’ll keep doing it to free slaves from their chains. He’s also convinced by Tyrion that his family will never be safe because he presents a threat to her rule. Jon tries to talk to Dany but she ignores him thinking she is justified. Jon pledges himself to Dany, then stabs her, and surrenders himself. Very traumatic for Jon because he does love her.

Jon will apparently take the black again, becoming the 1000th commander of the Watch. But… umm… why do we need the Watch now that the White Walkers and all the wights are gone?

    Tyrion
Tyrion’s trial in the dragon pit is a major scene and has no Jon, Dany, or dragons. Sir Davos is present not wearing the Hand of the King pin (he wasn’t in 8×04 either) along with all 3 stark children. Samwell Tarly, Brienne, Robyn Aryn, Grey Worm, an unknown man wearing golden clothes (likely Dornish), and another unidentified man (an older short bearded one dressed in green) will be there as well. Bran will flashback to season 1 where Tyrion Lannister told Catelyn Stark, “I never bet against my family.” Tyrion is filled with anger and resentment against the people of Kings Landing because he saved them against Stannis and they still turned on him. Thinks people of King’s Landing deserved it. He saved them and were ungrateful (trial of Joffrey’s murder) Will fall to his knees in the middle of the speech dragged down by the weight of his actions. His death was filmed in studio so not sure how he dies.

    Bran
The other ending says that Tyrion will end up serving on Bran’s council. That’s right, Bran will supposedly take the Iron Throne come next week’s series finale:

A council gets formed to decide who the King should be. Tyrion gives a speech and everyone votes on Bran to become King. The end. In the Epilogue, Jon takes the black again for killing Dany. (I think this is penance for regicide and guilt. People take the black to avoid the death penalty, and he would be the 1,000th Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch) Arya leaves. (she told Clegane she would) Sansa rules the North. When they’re deciding who to elect as king, Sam suggests holding a democratic election and the other nobles laugh at him. That’s before they vote on Bran. Bran oversees his council of Tyrion, Davos, Sam, and Bronn. The Unsullied leave to cross the sea and start liberating slave cities on their own, because that’s Dany’s plan before Jon kills her — she has this big speech scene, after sacking King’s Landing, where she’s talking about wrecking the world, liberating all of the slaves from their masters

They should have just started playing Don't Stop Believin' when the Night King busted through the wall at the end of season 7, and left it there.

Cant see how theyre going to kill Dani, deal with the Dragon, Unsullied and Dothraki, seat a new King and tie up any loose ends in a single episode without making it rushed and lame.

I mean the answer is out on the internet already... and yes it is the most idiotic, retarded, rushed, piss poor writing you will ever think about, with one exception of LOST series... Dan Weiss & David Benioff should never be allowed to write for a show ever again..

The whole Bran as king would be a big let down... one of the most boring, blah, useless characters on the show.

One way they could pull it off though is by through some final reveal that Bran is/has become the Night King.

    Emily....you should wear more sweaters.

Seriously, they should have used (2) seasons, not episodes, to wrap up and untangle the mess.

Or, like I suggested earlier: Night King didn't get stabbed, and breaking the Fourth Wall, touches the camera lens, and the screen goes white (can't use black, as the Sopranos have that hue locked up). That would have p!ssed off everyone, equally, as opposed to this, where everyone will be dissatisfied, but differently.
