Well today I decided to wax my wifes car. So we were taking pictures of it and my dog walked over and saw his reflection and started barking at himself. Here he is:

The car is a 2006 Mazdaspeed6. AWD 274HP turbocharged 4 cylinder.

Cute dog. Have you had issues with him? I've met a lot of "persnickety" Shiba Inus in my line of work and have often wondered what it'd be like to have one full time.

What line of work would that be???

He's definately a handful. We did a lot of research before getting a Shiba and decided to take the chance with one. He's awesome and is so much fun. He is definately a pain in the ass and requires some extra work. He can never be loose and always needs to be on a leash. If not if he sees something then he's gone and there is no stopping him. He has a mind of his own and thinks he is the boss. We got lucky though because he is good with our cats. Besides that he is extremely intelligent and very playful. He's nervous around new people but is not aggressive at all.

We got him as a puppy from a breader. One issue he does have though is epilepsy so he is on meds for that. Other than that he's healthy and hardly ever barks...

I'm a licensed veterinary technician [wink] Most of the Shiba's I come across are really dominant. I have a nice slice down my right arm from one last week. Though one of the nicest dogs I ever met was a Shiba Inu. They're a tough breed. Epilepsy is tough. Hope he's regulated well. You doing KBR or Phenobarb for him?

He's currently on Phenobarb and hasn't had any incidents in a long time. Our vet is a epilepsy specialist and has done extensive research on the subject and did say that it is something he "may" outgrow. He said it is more and more common in dogs lately and isn't sure why. It saddens me to know that the Phenobarbital may lower his life expectancy.

As for his dominance we got really lucky with him. Most Shibas are terrible with other dogs and esp. cats. Cozmo loves all the neighborhood dogs and plays with them whenever he can. The only issue we have is with the Doberman near us. For whatever reason he doesn't like him and attacks when he can??? He's never been aggressive towards any people ever and has a great personality.

Doing research on the Shiba before we got him makes you really think twice about getting one. However, this dog is so spoiled and gets more attention than my wife does, lol, and has been brought up with 2 cats and has the perfect personality. He knows that I'm the boss. We crate trained him and he only took a few weeks to house break. I can't say enough great things about this dog...

+1 to That! I love the Mazda 3&6, and the Guys at Car and Driver have been getting in bloody fistfights whenever the mag gets a chance to do a test drive [smile]

They've got a Mazdaspeed package for the 3 comming out soon.

Arrrr
