Doctor Drew actually has some really good youtubes on all this...from a mental health doctor's perspective. In a nutshell, he says 85% of the homeless LIKE IT that way...would not go to a shelter if it was free and the doors were open and right around the corner.

As much as it abhors us to think of sleeping on the sidewalk...apparently to a deluded mind...the surroundings become "normal" to them...and anything else is strange. They actually PREFER to be homeless.

what DOES help is the police rousting the homeless every day...making them move on...find a shelter...move to another more "progressive" city....

I thought the post was funny. Funny that you thought that the government could fix any problem. And funny that youir solution is to take tax from working people to actually buy them food, shelter and clothing. Granted your idea is probably a more cost effective measure.
It certainly is not a better societal fix to have the government be in charge of fixing any problem or handing out free stuff. What happens when the homeless from other cities migrate to the utopia?

Dude, relax. They're spending the money regardless. Besides, if we make all major cities equally attractive to to the homeless, they'll tend to remain where they are rather than travel. And if they DO decide to travel, they'll have a backpack, tent, warm clothes and HIKING BOOTS to do it. Which means they won't have to hitch rides on trains, which is dangerous and illegal. Man, have you any comprehension of the lives we would save by keeping the homeless off of freight trains? Plus, all that walking will be good exercise, which may even encourage some of them to start Youtube channels called Hobo Exercise or something, perhaps even to earn enough money from the ad revenues to buy a house. Oh, if 10,000 homeless people buy houses, who benefits? The Real Estate Agents. They make a living. The local home depot type stores. Housewares. The entire economy could be jump started JUST by spending a few bucks more intelligently. And speaking of intelligence, being homeless doesn't mean you aren't smart. Well, it could but it isn't a given. One or more of those homeless people could, after building their career, buying a house and becoming a productive member of society, might go back to school and invent that ONE new accessory for your rifle that makes it ergonomic and accurate. So if you won't do it for the pure humanity, then do it for your own, cruel, selfish pleasure! And, speaking of pleasure, some of those homeless are gals and some of them may clean up just fine. Innocently, you might even say. Let's say even 1 in 10 is female and one in 10 of those "cleans up". That's... 100 hot new chicas in a city of dudes loving other dudes. The dudes that are straight will be grateful. I'm telling you Rom, you get behind this movement and they'll be singing your praises from the rooftops! And I don't mean the way those Koreans did, down in the LA riots, either! The ones that were protecting Rodney King. You remember? Hey, the coffee is done. I've gotta go pour a cup. Be right back!

I am German and weep for my German culture. The Gov't there has done nothing but strive to destroy the German culture and people and replace it with sharia and other "stuff" for years. They have been the great economic engine of the EU for years but will soon turn into a 3rd world crap-hole because of their "import everyone" ideology. Sad..
