P22s are known for this, all over forums. It's one of the reasons I never bought one, that sucks. They use the shittiest pot metal in the world.

If I remember correctly, the P22 slide is made out of Zamak, AKA, a fancy industrial name for what we call "pot metal." My friend managed to get his to do that in about 22,000 rounds or so. Smith replaced the entire upper for free. The P22 is basically designed as a throwaway, they're figuring that most people won't shoot it enough for it to ever be a problem.

I would be looking to sell it if it were mine. I didn't like the ergonomics so I bought a Sig instead. And mine seems to like everything so I got lucky there too.
