Fudd Conversions on 2A

Nope. Fudds are statists at heart. There's no fixing that.
This. If you managed to change their mind they were either neutral/disinterested (not a gun person) prior or they had an experience that warranted changing their mind from the other side. The only way to fix a statist is to basically existential crisis in which the government basically destroys their life or somebody immediately related to them.

In fact, I did.

Please see below.

What have you done lately?
Well, you basically forced the existential crisis I mentioned above with how defeated he was and how dare you question him. Glad to hear you moved somebody though. It's really hard with some people in our community especially given the notion of just wanting to be left alone from a lot of people. Thank you for sharing.

I don't bother with people over 40, their minds are set and difficult to change. I do take groups of liberal 20 and 30 somethings a couple time per year and have changed some minds

I don't talk guns to known fudds. But I would love one to try and convince me otherwise. I went to a wedding last week and I was sitting at a table with a guy who is a lifelong friend to the groom. We both danced around a bit about guns and then figured we were both gun guys. He's from here, is a cop in LA and is retiring in a couple of years. He bought some acreage in Maine and is building a shooting range on the property. I have an open invite...lol.

So many antis were at that wedding and somehow we found each other...lmao. He had his daughter there, she is a bit older than my girls....she was within ear shot and I mentioned about teaching the kids and he said she already knows. She looked at me and was nodding her head in agreement and you could see the pride in her dad's face.So awesome!!!!

My wife. She's British and always viewed guns as you would imagine but now she's 100% "Americanized" in a non fuddy way. She was never anti-gun, rather she was just ignorant about them. Now she's full blown freedom minded in every aspect, lol, shes more patriotic than a lot of Americans I know.

Actually your wife was a Subject not a Fudd. Good job on the conversion though!

Not sure if I was successful, but I did point out to one Fudd that his pump shotgun was banned in the UK and Australia and that two of his bolt action rifles were illegal in several other countries because they were chambered for "military" cartridges (.308 and .223). I told him that a number of politicians are calling for Congress to enact anti-gun laws based upon Australia's example.

You might point out that red flag laws aren't just for AR and AK owners.
They ever piss anyone off ?
Got a twitchy family member ?
Chances are the answer to both is yes for most people.
Good , now your ass is hanging in the breeze like everyone else's .
How you going to feel when you see your $3000,00 over and under lobbed into the back of a pickup on top of that sweet scoped rife and all your other shit never to be seen again unless you want to second mortgage your house for lawyers fees.
And then it's maybe.
Guess you shouldn't have argued with crazy cousin Matilda at thanksgiving.
What ? You say you have rights and that can't happen ? AHAHAHAHA.

The vast majority of the Fudds I know are not liberals. They're staunch "nobody-needs-a-suppressor-or-a-bump-stock" republicans.
This.

Additionally they hate "the gays" and "the faggits" and think the war on drugs is winnable. In other words.....old time Republicans with no concept of what individual liberty means.

yeah, you're right, i just took a moment to digest your comment. a large number of folks who have voiced an opinion to me personally regarding this stuff ARE republicans and/or staunch gun owners. yep, very surprising indeed.

I've said it before - just about everyone is a fascist as long as they are in agreement with the oppression taking place. "What? No suppressors? Good! And kill all the immigrants? I'm good. Blow up Iran? I'm in. Raise my taxes 98%. NOW WAIT UST A MINUTE!"

Very few want freedom. They just want a pocket of freedom.

I continue to be surprised by those who are staunch low-tax, small-government, "leave me alone!" conservative Republicans... until it turns out they live in Bedford NH and loooove restrictions on what people can do with their own property.

Try to open a small-volume custom-order FFL out of your garage? WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN! Build a multi-family, or a single-family on less than an acre? TORCHES AND PITCHFORKS!

Call anyone out on their double standards? YOU'RE A SOCIALIST!

"Pro-Gun" Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick Buys into Anti-Gun Kool Aid - Big League Politics
“Look, I’m a solid NRA guy,” Patrick said to the paper, “but not expanding the background check to eliminate the stranger to stranger sale makes no sense to me and … most folks.”

The NRA had choice words for Patrick, which compared his policy proposals to anti-gun billionaire Michael Bloomberg and even tied them to the Obama administration.

“With due respect, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s ‘proposals’ would resurrect the same broken, Bloomberg-funded failures that were attempted under the Obama administration,” the statement declared. “Like most political gambits, Lt. Gov. Patrick’s ‘solution’ precedes his possession of the facts, including this critical concession by the Obama administration: Criminalizing private firearm transfers would require a massive, governmental gun registration scheme.”

Patrick’s latest scuffle with the NRA comes after Governor Greg Abbott issued several executive orders which facilitated inter-governmental cooperation among state agencies to tackle mass shootings from recent weeks.

But for anti-gun Democrats who want to radically transform Texas’s relatively solid gun laws, this is not enough. They want Abbott to call a special session of the legislature to put politicians on the record by forcing votes on gun control.

For many diehard Second Amendment activists, Patrick’s compromise on universal background checks—which effectively subjects all firearms transactions to some form of government approval—has rekindled gun rights activists fears’ about a statewide registration system.

Texas maybe witnessing an ideological transformation that may make gun rights activism much harder in the Lone Star State.

In the worst case scenario, both parties will not be viable mechanisms for pro-gun supporters to push solid Second Amendment legislation at the state level.

Bump stocks are a dumb idea. They always were. They always will be. On the other hand, full auto and semi auto are very useful tools. On the surface you might think that my Remington pump 870 is a fudd gun, until you see that its a 870 police version, with no plastic parts, rifle sights and a factory extended magazine. It pairs nicely with my Mossberg Mariner 590A1, or my Benelli M1 Super 90. Does this make me a fudd?

I did change a Fudd or really the overreaching politicians did. I just pointed out what the future will be if we let them take an inch, they will take a mile.

My father was very fuddish when I was growing up. He always had guns, but, he always viewed military stuff as junk or unneeded. Not a staunch anti, mostly, you don't need hi cap mags type, you don't need AR's/AK's. That stuff was ugly junk, his bag was beautiful high quality hunting irons.

I think alot of it came with his generation, as their major military semi auto rifles were Garands, and they did the job. Also don't forget the government was a lot smaller, less obtrusive, and things were much simpler then. They had like half the laws that are on the books now. They had freedoms we never had or could think of having. Guns were bought at hardware stores, and were sold person to person without any papers.

That generation believed in good government, and had better government than we will likely ever see again. Most of the democrat thinking back when my dad got older would be standard Republican thinking now....... Guns were not nearly as talked about or regulated. Sure they had reactionary laws, but they weren't going after your rights yearly like they are now in most Northeast states.

So I understand some generational Fuddism.......but now, my Dad has come around 180. He fully realizes that politicians are after nothing but control of the people, from guns, to healthcare, to everything they touch. I can say I helped enlighten him, sad though, to see a guy who had trust in the government lose a lot of faith in it.

If one thing is guaranteed to be true, its that every generation will have less rights and more laws than the generation before it.

The harsh and punishing super ego of the fud is something that is ingrained early in life...there is no changing it. Let them caress their bolt-action rifle and over under shot guns in private and ignore them. They are lost souls.

Thinking bump stocks are stupid doesn't make you a fudd. Edit: Not that I'm the final say here, but I think bump stocks are stupid too. It's all about how people handle the government and in this case Donald Trump sticking their nose in regulating something that makes them a fudd. In the entire time on here I don't think I've ever see you say that bump stocks should be banned or that who cares about bump stocks as long as I still got mine. That's what makes somebody a fudd in relation to bump stocks But to answer your question, yes owning shotguns makes you a fudd. ;) Obvious broad sweeping joke aside, actually just got a beretta 1301 and love the hell out of it.

Until Peak of Stupidity is reached, and it is no laws and no rights from there all the way down! That, my friends, I experienced few times already.

During such times bullets and guns are more valuable than food and food is more valuable than gold. That is the correct answer to every fudd. You can't stop the angry mob with gold when the mob is hungry. You can't dial 9-1-1 when your lines ain't working and police is against you now. You can't survive such situations without guns and without food, everything else will be destroyed or taken away from you! Just the simple fact that you have a gun, and you know how to use it, will eliminate you as a potential target. Mob will go after those who have everything but guns!
