...comes a Remington 241 "Speedmaster" 22 rifle manufactured in April of 1949.

I inherited this from my father-in-law when he passed away. It's been sitting in the back of my safe for years. I recently took it out and decided to give a good cleaning. Shot it today for the first time. Lots of failures to feed with lead 22's (oddly enough, Remington brand) but zero problems with copper plated 22's (Winchester).

Cool gun...probably on every little boy's Christmas list back in the day.

Glad I'm now it's custodian..

Your right....I wanted a Browning .22 auto so bad...always hoping to see it under the Christmas tree. My Mom and Dad always told me if you want a gun YOU pay for it. One year spending all summer raking blueberries I had enough money for my Browning A-5 LT 20 ($132.00), school clothes and just enough for Remington Nylon 66 ($36.00). With the 66 I never thought about the Browning again.

FTF May have been weak ammo. Feed it hot 22 and it will likely work reliably all day long.
I would hang that on the wall somewhere!
