Two French police officers are seriously injured after being shot by assailants who stole their service weapons, according to reports.

The attack unfolded on late Wednesday night in Herblay, on the outskirts of Paris.

The officers had arrived to investigate at the scene of an attempted abduction when they were ambushed by three suspects who pulled them from their vehicle and beat them badly.

“The assailants opened fire on the two police officers who were already in bad shape," Le Parisien reports. “Six bullets were fired. The first victim, a 45-year-old police major, was injured in the thigh and knee. He was taken to Pontoise Hospital.”

“The second victim, a 30-year-old peacekeeper, was shot four times in the lower body. Suffering from a fractured skull, he was taken to Beaujon Hospital in Clichy (Hauts-de-Seine). At the scene, seven shell casings and a 9mm cartridge were discovered.”

The attackers reportedly made off with the firearms, a mobile phone, and a police radio.

French police carry and have long had a reputation for shooting first and not really asking many questions after. Remember, in France you are guilty until you can prove your innocence.

Three guys without guns pulled two guys with guns out of their car, beat the snot out of them, took the guns, fired six shots and got 6 hits all on their lower bodies, then they threw one extra shell casing and one round on the ground and took off with the guns and radio?
