Just found this picture. During Desert Storm I was originally on the southern end of this bridge with the 101st Airborne, and moved north after a few days to be part of the "Stopping Wall".

We tried to blow that bridge up six ways from Sunday...

It wouldn't fall down? Tell us more please........and thanks !

Nope, it never fell down.

First we fired Arty. No joy there.

Then the Engineers slapped 500 lbs onto it, still nothing.

Then a pair of A-10s circled it for about 20 minutes blasting the snot out of it. I was about a mile from it and was really enjoying the show.

The bridge never "fell" but we knocked the side down enough so you couldn't drive across it, which was really the reason we were trying to knock it down....

So once we had it so you couldn't get across, yours truely and some other lucky souls were put on that side of the bridge and when Joe Iraqi stopped his vehicle, whatever it was, a stolen Jag, a Beemer, a truck, a dump truck, whatever, and walked up to the edge of the bridge and peered over the side to see what was up.

Then we popped him.
