So I got my new FNX-9 and I ordered the Ameriglo fiber front sight. I go to put it on today and I am unable to get the factory front sight out. I have a sight tool which wouldn't budge it. I then tried the hammer and punch method with no luck. I swear FNH used red loctite on this thing. I have successfully changed my sights on a FNP and SR9 before, so I do have a little experience.

After searching for answers on the internet, I have heard everything from heat to cold to nail polish remover. I don't want to try anything that will damage the slide, so I am asking here what your thoughts are.

And taking to a smith would be my final option.

Have you tried both directions? It may sound silly, but I seem to recall hearing that some sight dovetails are cut so that the sight will only go in/out from one side.

Have you tried calling FN?

Yes, I tried both directions with my sight tool. Only tried one direction with the hammer and punch however.

I can try calling FN. But they are not that good in my opinion (you should have seen what I had to go through to find out what RSA was the current one for the FNP).
