I decided to take the hour and a half (ish) drive to Four Seasons because so many people here speak so highly of them. They have made me a little poorer, and I cant thank them enough [laugh] At this rate they're gonna make me go broke [smile] Overall a wonderful experiance, picked up a MP40C and a Star PD. That said anyone know where I can pick up some wood/rubber/plastic grips for the PD? Imitation Pearl isnt really my style. [wink]

I noticed that they had that Star PD listed on their website for a couple weeks now. My father had one many years ago, and I always thought they were very neat pistols. Thank you for buying it and saving me some money - I was beginning to get a little tempted!

The Star PD is a nice lite carry gun. Designed to be carried a lot a shot a little. I picked one up at a gun show many years ago for pretty cheap money. It was well worn but it does shoot well.

My only grip with the pistol is the magazines. They are getting hard to find and expensive when you do. Too bad the Colt Officer's magazines don't fit.

This one is almost unfired. The blue on the barrel is hardly worn, and if I had to guess from that, and the finish wear inside the mag well...its had less than 100 rounds through it. Ive been looking for once since I shot a friends years ago. Its nickel (?) with imitation pearl grips. I was hoping for blued/wood, but for the condition its in I cant even begin to complain. Who ever owned it must have bought it, run a few mags worth through it, and put it in a drawer. I might do the same, and wait on a slightly more "loved" one to come along, to carry. Came with the original box, cleaning kit, spare mag, and a spare spring/buffer combo. jdesro, glad I could help[smile]

what was their reasoning?

That it will accept an aftermarket mag that holds more than 10 rounds, no doubt.

Definition of Large Capacity Weapon
A weapon is large capacity if it is a semi-automatic handgun or rifle that is capable of accepting (or readily modifiable to accept) any detachable large capacity feeding device that holds more than ten rounds, OR if it is a shotgun capable of accepting more than five shotgun shells, OR if it is an assault weapon.

NOTE: A .22 caliber rifle with a fixed tubular magazine is not considered large capacity.

One thing I miss about Scrivener he got right to the point. Quote from the link above.

As a business decision, Four Seasons won't sell it to you out of concern that large capacity _magazines_ are readily available and Carl doesn't want to risk any needless liability.
Thus aiding and abetting the anti-gunners by restricting lawful sales by getting in a swit over imaginary fears.

The Ruger 10/22 is not and never was on a "large capacity" or "assault weapon" list. There is NO rational basis for treating a simple .22 as anything other than that.

IF the owner comes into possession of after-market mags w/o holding an LTC, the onus is on that owner. The law punishes the UNLICENSED POSSESSOR of the mags.

The only liability to a dealer would be the sale of the gun WITH such mags to a non-LTC holder. Our problems are bad enough without fabricating new ones.

I must be the only person who ever goes into that place and doesn't buy anything.

I go in there looking for reloading components => I don't find any
I go in looking for a pocket holster for my new snubbie => I don't find one
I go in looking for a speedloader => I don't find one

The only reason I go in there anymore is to peek at the rifle rack looking for an interesting C&R, only to find them priced out of my range.
Then I went the other day and noticed I had to take a number to get waited on.

I'm happy that they are running a good business, but when are they going to get a bigger store?

I'm in the market for an over and under or 2. How are they for shotguns, inventory big or small or do they mostly order what you want and not stock much. Thinking of driving up there in the next couple weeks. Thanks Jim

I'm new to the game and I only have one gun right now- M&P 9c which I bought at FS.

FS has the cheapest practice ammo that I have been able to find at 10 bucks for a box of 50. I also bought a quick access safe there for 90 bucks that was listed at 200 in a shop down in Weymouth. So far they've had the best prices on everything that I have been looking for.....

Online is still cheaper. Got a 870 from Buds for around $300, then a $30 MIR. I think that same Express model is $340 at FS. Great shop though, good guys over there.

You should spend more money and support you local shop..I find that online purchases don't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling like I get at the local shop. When you first walk into a shop and one of the workers give you that knowingly glance and nod,I get sexually excited.

You just can't get that type of satisfaction online.

Tee-hee......gun porn!

Larry, I dont know how you do it. I walked out of there happy with what I purchased, but wishing I had more disposable income to spend. Im kicking myself right now for not picking up a holster for the M&P, I was planning on getting something along the lines of a supertuck after the fact. but having it, and not being able to carry it is driving me nuts, and I've only had it a day. Now I have to wait until next week to pick up something. Until then, I have my trusty .38 snubby. which btw isnt being replaced, it just needed a friend.

MIR should not be dependent on where you buy the gun, so leave that out of the equation.

IIRC, Bud's charges 3% if you use plastic to pay for your purchase, plus x% for insurance and you'll pay some MA Dealer a transfer fee (typically $25-40), so now where is your bargain again? I don't recall if Bud's charges for S/H or not, but you'll wait a week to 2 weeks before you'll have your hands on the gun.

This is a case where I agree with Greg! [shocked] [laugh]

Net cost will probably be ~$15 more than Bud's after sales tax and you'll have it in your hands the same day you lay down the cash/plastic.

I'm definitely starting out the new year with a trip, and hopefully purchase, at four seasons. They're really competitive with their pricing.

Good choice. Yes, they are very competitive in most things.

I guess I don't get that warm fuzzy feeling. I shop for best deals :p

If you are saving significant money yes, but if it's just a few bucks and you have to wait 1-2 weeks for your purchase vs. paying a total of $15 more on a purchase of this size, I know what decision I would be making.

I love Four Seasons. I do have a weak spot for guns as my husband has pointed out recently. (If he only knew) I have to avoid that place when I don't have any money I can afford to spend. Last time I walked in Ed handed me the new pro-series compact 1911 by S&W. I was lucky to get out of their with my credit card in tact. Oh wait, I didn't have my wallet for some reason. No wonder I survived that trip!

Aw crap, they have those there??? Do you recall what the price was?

It's difficult to expect one place to have everything that everyone could possibly need. They run a good shop and yes, at times certain things will simply be out of stock as they are elsewhere.

The numbers are for those who want to buy a firearm, not for anything else in the store.

I can't speak for pricing of used firearms as those consignment prices are set by the seller, not Carl and the FS staff. New guns I've bought there have been fairly priced and I've always been treated with warmth, courtesy and respect. I'll continue to spend the majority of my money there.

You have a point. MIR is from the company so I guess we cannot count that. Looks like FS everyday discount is $371 for that shotgun and there "Special Pricing" is at $340, don't know how long it will be like that for. I assume they are not selling to much at their regular price and want to push some of these out more.

Still a great shop, I frequent there a lot more than any other shop and its a good 40 min drive when I have closer shops. Worth the drive.

Four Seasons is like 15 mins from my office. Favorite lunch break destination! Bought all my guns there except for one. Four Seasons #1!!!!

15 min from your office, and lunch break distance... So do you cash your check first, or just sign it over to them for all of the things you want every week? [wink]
