Got my LTC-A a couple years ago. Last year I got a shotgun & hunting license.

This year, after many discussions with my wife about the many reasons I wanted one, and after saving my pennies & foregoing several other recreational opportunities, I finally made a handgun purchase.

After much wrangling about what caliber, size, manufacturer, model, etc. I finally settled on an M&P 9c. I also picked up a Crossbreed SuperTuck IWB holster, although I am not in a HUGE hurry to carry (but I will...).

Thanks to everyone on this board. I have done a lot of searching on NES and other sites, and got a lot of great, helpful information on which to make my decision.

I'm very happy with my choice. Glad to do business with local companies - First Defense Firearms in Uxbridge, MA, and Smith & Wesson from Springfield.

Buy (or at least consider!) American!

Anyone have issues with the mags for this pistol getting jammed up? It came with two mags. I loaded the first one with ten rounds, and it didn't want to go in the gun (it works fine with nine).

It goes in with ten, but it seems "tight." Getting the tenth round into the mag, and getting the mag loaded into the gun, are both harder than they should be. Nine in the mag loads into the gun easier.

The second mag, I somehow got two rounds stuck side-by-side, requiring me to use a screwdriver to get 'em out.

Is all this just because the mags are new? I'm using Remington UMC target loads.

There is a known issue with those mags not wanting to accept 10, I don't have a m&p, a buddy of mine does, he can't even get 10 in his mags without an uplula, or some other type of speed loader, the springs seem to be just very tight, you might try loading the mags to 10 and just letting them sit a few weeks to work the springs in a bit before trying to shoot with them loaded to 10. That's the best I got without hazarding to recomend you change the springs out.

try loading the mag with 9 and chamber a round, then drop the mag and put the 10th round in

I found on my M&P 45 and my roommate found the same with his 40c - that if you can get them 10+1 and let them sit, the springs will loosen up. (Or bend if you have the 45 - but thats another thread about defective springs).

Yup - whether it's 10, or 10+1, it's a tight fit.

Hard getting the tenth round into the mag.

and hard getting a full mag into the gun. It'll go, but it doesn't feel "right."

Nine go in the mag fine, and a mag with only nine clicks right into the gun.

Guess I'm not alone. I found this thread from awhile back:

Hoping it'll loosen up as it breaks in.

You should have kept searching [wink]
There's a known issue floating around about how they've changed the followers which causes problems getting the 10th round in there and, if you get it in there, the mag won't insert properly. Loading the mags to let the springs break in will only be marginally helpful. You need to mod your mags to resolve the issue, as discussed here:

with a demo video here:

They didn't say anything about sending in the OEM mags. So I think I'll end up with four. The two new ones they're sending will both have the little pinky-finger extension, too (which I prefer to the flat-bottom ones).

I just bought a used M&P9c. The owner told me it has about 600 rounds through it. I do have a little trouble getting the tenth round to load but I don't notice a difference inserting the mag into the gun. I just got my LTC and I've not even fired the gun yet. I'm told it will be about six weeks before my application is approved at the local club here on the cape. Needless to say I'm a bit anxious.
