No, it won't. People in MA who want to use them largely ignore the laws anyways. of course our illustrious AG might sue the seller or something.. [rofl] It's probably phantom, tnt or one of the other similar rape-job vendors.

Yeah it's probably the same people up the street who tacked a sign under the SPEED LIMIT 35MPH saying 'It's not a suggestion!'

The fireworks stands are already opening up here in Kentucky.

I hope they are able to keep them dry, we're expecting 3+ inches of rain and moderate winds here this weekend.

    LOL.

Don't forget the signs on the interstate returning home.

Now you know why the neighbors mutter
"fire for effect" when you walk past; sigh.

    Snakes.
    Definitely snakes.

Anything can f*** you up on suitability, including picking your nose in front of a bad police officer in a douche town. [laugh] So it ultimately depends on how scared of ones own shadow one is. If I "did fireworks" I wouldn't care (I don't, I'd rather buy ammunition) but then again I also don't care much about suitability, either. Living ones life beholden to some imaginary/nebulous standard is mentally unhealthy.

If you really want to mitigate risk go to one of those MA beaches where nobody gives a shit, if you look up and down the coast on the 3rd and the 4th tons of people
blow shit off and are largely left alone. Or for that matter anyone that lives on a lake or pond somewhere of any significance.

C'mon. Not everyone is Billy Blazkowski driving back over the border honking the horn and screaming, "YEAH WE GOTS FIREWORKS!!! WOOOO!!!!"

    ahhh 'tis the season...

I saw my first overhead sign on 93 south in Andover this morning.... don't the Feds have guidelines as to what can be on those signs.... down in Florida the signs are normally flashing a "Silver ALert" for Grandma that got in her car and is AWOL.

We have a house in Marshfield, about 75 yards from the beach.... we used to have bonfires on the 4th until our 5000 dollar cottages became 800K water front properties.... so they really clamped down on the bonfires... but fireworks.. at the end of every street there is a display that makes the Esplanade display look like a match... I compare it to the fall of Saigon... everyone brings a bag of good stuff... the display lasts a good hour.

But I really miss the bonfires... one at the end of every street from Scituate to Green Harbor

Once (once) I decided to exit NJ via the Holland Tunnel,
and angle to the FDR Drive via Chinatown/Little Italy.

I was impressed by how an urchin was acting as the advance man,
    selling fireworks to passing cars:
A piece of discarded cardboard with FIREWORKS written on it,
with a vertical fold in the middle.
Held from above with the middle finger in front of the crease,
and the index and ring fingers behind the sign.

When all the fingers were in-line - a flat palm -
    the sign was flapped closed.
If the index and ring fingers were moved behind the middle finger
(almost like flipping the bird while pointing downwards),
the sign would open like a butterfly stretching its wings.
Hold it open for a second or two at passing traffic,
    then flip it closed again.

It was probably the Mob or a Tong using a minor to front for them,
because they couldn't even catch jail time
if someone cared enough to bust them.
(Don't remember if it was before or during Giuliani/Bratton).

They don't call it Fun City for nothing.

If it’s once or twice a year on or around Independence Day weekend, suck it up, buttercup.

If it’s a daily or weekly thing, I can see how it’d be irritating.

I agree both are stupid, but there’s quite a difference. Heroin is commonly known to be illegal everywhere in the US. Lots of people new to MA or just visiting likely have no clue that an ordinary celebratory light implement is illegal, especially when they are sold everywhere along the border.

You're supposed to aim a Roman Candle or bottle rocket at the police car and light it off. If movies and TV have taught me anything, it's that doing that will cause the police car to blow up, harmlessly tossing the officers out onto the side of the road, while you make your getaway!

I would wipe my ass with that letter and send it right back to the sender. Then after I'm done banging his wife and thrown his keys onto the roof, I would light off as many 500-gram big tube repeaters as I could afford right in front of his house.

In Fitchburg "explosion and boom season" is basically every weekend from late May until the weekend after Labor day... [rofl] More common fri/sat nights. Then just at random here and there on any given weekday evening. [rofl] There's also a local game called "Is it gunfire or fireworks?" [rofl]

If it was once or twice on Independence day I wouldn’t have an issue.

Started three weeks ago and will go on through July tapering off in early August.

I’m so glad that they are illegal. Problem solved.

I think them being illegal makes it 100x worse in terms of the retard factor, otherwise the novelty would mostly wear off and we'd have like 5-6 main days of explosions per year... 3/4 july, labor day weekend and new years eve, done.

People that I know, when in Kentucky for the Eclipse, hoped to get some fireworks. They had no idea that most stores were seasonal. [sad]

Worcester has some pretty good "backyard displays" and the cops often do nothing. I think people have gotten used to the same old scare tactics of "jail time" signs on the highway. What do you expect living next to one of the most firework friendly states in the US?

Cakes, mortars, candles, and rockets! Woohoo!

Unintended consequences. As usual with useless laws. Them being illegal does nothing to prevent their usage, but it does mean that people instead of firing them off at normal hours, do it at terrible hours because they have to sneak to avoid getting caught. I’d bet this would happen far less often if they weren’t illegal.

But your sleep is a small price to pay for government overreach.

    Absolutely.

In Texas, fireworks are only sold 21 days a year (10 days leading up to New Year's Day, and 11 days leading up to July 4). Arkansas and Louisiana are similar, and I lived in the ArkLaTex region. Most municipalities of any size ban sale and even possession of fireworks, much less use of them.

I heard fireworks there year 'round. In NH? Only on July 4 weekend; occasionally at New Year's. I did hear a few this past Friday and Saturday, but I think that was celebration of NH joining the Union (June 21, 1788).

I do have to point out that NH has some really stupid fireworks laws, though. It's illegal for anyone under 21 to buy or possess any "fireworks", and this includes sparklers and poppers.

Hell, I still wanna know which group of you toolbags are firing off extremely-large-caliber firearms in rapid fire behind the development. I know the culprit is on this forum. ROFL!!! Some afternoons are pretty damned loud. My kids get all uppity. "It's America. Freedom. They are in the sand pit. What's the problem? It's a bit of noise."

Joe Dirt or that reunion movie with Sandler and Rock? I forget. Pretty sure it was Dirt, but second guessing myself.

Husker Doo's. That one kills me. B/c I'm betting no one who watched it knows what Hüsker Dü was/is.

    They were pretty bad.

Guiliani went FR against fireworks when he became mayor, before that the city was basically a fireworks warzone and nobody cared... [rofl]

This guy has a video series from back then, but theres also some other guy who has a bunch of videos of the infamous "ozone park firework battles" etc.

I went to Louisburg KT (fly speck) for the eclipse and it was AMAZING! Perfect clear skies. I laughed cause all the idiots who piled into the U of Il in Carondale saw nothing due to cloud cover. I drove an extra 2.5 hours that morning to avoid it.

It was a meaningless band name to me until today.
    Rock dots, FTW.

    (I suspected).

There's an accent I've not heard in a long time.

I always thought fireworks were childish. Never understood spending money on the stupid things. Oh boy, loud noises and sparkles. Wow.

This reminds me of some 80s NYC radio show where the guy on the radio show would film them setting off firecrackers in the street and occasionally he would take an old
microphone and ceremoniously blow it up with something... [rofl] I'm trying to find the video...

ETA: shit, here it is... [rofl]
