Nice 870, I bought myself the same model last year. Havnt gotten anything given to me on my birthday (never any firearms, since noone else in my family shoots) since two years ago on my 18th
The lady is getting a P238 for Xmas this year.
Mine too, the first gun I ever bought her was a Walther PPK 380 w/Crimson Trace Grip and I fire it more than she does. She says it's too hard to rack the slide. It's supposed to be her carry gun but she won't carry it and she says her Beretta 92FS is too big. I've been checking out those P238 every time I go into a gun shop. It's like a mini 1911 and real smooth action. The only other small gun I've been looking at is the S&W Bodyguard and it seems kinda choochie compared with the Sig.
The real question is which one is she getting; http://sigsauer.com/CatalogProductList/pistols-p238.aspx
I always wanted to give a gun as a gift, but have been leery of straw purchases. How do you legally do it?

I got a M44 Nagant for a wedding present. Still one of my favorites to this day.
I gave one granddaughter a Cricket 22 on her 8th birthday, a Henry 22 levergun for her 12th birthday, and a 22 revolver on her 16th.
Another granddaughter got a Cricket on her 6th birthday and Henry 22 levergun on her 10th.
They make great gifts to give!
In this state those gifts amount to a paperwork nightmare. But as your signature says: "Freedom has ceased to be a birthright; it has come to mean whatever we are still permitted to do."
I would not surprise someone with a gun for christmas unless it were the exact one they said they wanted. Its like buying someone a pair of shoes they have never tried on.
