Rules and Regulations
The following is a comprised list of rules and regulation regarding the falling steel competion held at Harvard sportsmans club and are subject to change under the directions of the Match Director. Please be aware of the rules and ask questions if you are not sure.

Basic Safety:
We run cold ranges at all times, there is no handling of firearms at anytime unless you are on the firing line and instructed to do so by an Range Officer or at a designated safe table.
All Firearms are to remain unloaded, free of any ammo or magazines at all times unless you are on the firing line and instructed to load by the Range Officer.
Eye and Ear protection must be worn at all times, whether shooting or not.
Firearms may be bagged or holstered
Shooters may load from their belt or the provided table.
Should a magazine be dropped during shooting, any magazine that falls to the ground is considered dead and may not be retrieved until the firearm is cleared and deemed safe by the RO, any magazine that falls on the table may be retrieved and used.
There is a 180 degree rule in effect while shooting which is to the back berm and extends to the left, right, up and down so watch your muzzle
Start Position:
Shooter will start with no more than 10 rounds in the gun except in PCC and Open unlimited division.
Shooter will be in low ready position with muzzle touching the provided table.
External safeties shall be engaged until the timer starts
Shooter shall engage targets once the timer starts and continue until finished, par time expires, ammo is expended or if the RO commands to do so. all targets must fall if a target bounces back up it is up to the RO to call it dead Once completed, shooter shall clear the firearm as instructed by RO, drop magazine, show clear chamber, slide forward and drop hammer pointed at back berm. Once clear, shooter will bag or holster firearm.

DQs:
In the event of a Disqualifying event, the MD shall be contacted and will make the determination if a DQ is to be issued. These actions may be but are not limited to: Accidental/ Negligent discharge, unsafe gun handling, 180 degree violation, dropped firearm or unsportsman like conduct.

Resetting of Targets:
Once the Range Officer ha s declared the range safe, all shooters except the finshing shooter and the on deck shooter shall assist in resetting of the steel targets and painting of the targets after the last shooter in the squad, anyone failing to do their part shall be warned and or asked to leave and DQ’d for unsportsmanlike conduct.
Shooting is optional, resetting is MANDATORY!!!

Pay Outs:
Payouts will be done based on the number of shooters per division, if there are 15 or more shooters in a division then the top 3 shooters will be paid out.
Also there will be random draw prize winners, once scores are posted for any errors that need to be corrected. Allow some time for our MD to process the information and for our treasurer to process and issue checks via mail.
Emergency Procedures:
Should any minor injuries occur, we have first aid kits and first responders on site.
Should a Emergency arise, we call a cease fire on all ranges and call 911, when calling 911, please state that there has been a training accident at Harvard sportsmans Club (we don’t need swat showing up if we say there was a gun shot victim)
Once the scene is cleared, we will then proceed with the competition.

Any questions feel free to email me Ramon at [email protected]

Ramon, I think I know your intentions of the 'Stock Auto' division, but the wording 'Firearm appears stock' probably should be omitted or changed.

Example, let's say an iron sighted G17 with an aftermarket slide and/ or grip stippling. It does not appear stock, but without an optic and compensator it wouldn't belong in Open.

Yes I can get rid of the appears stock portion but everything else applies

curious, why is the start position low ready muzzle on the table, why not draw from holster like steel challenge?

not throwing shade at all, legit just curious.

Will multiple entries be allowed in the same squad? Or will you have to sign up for different time slots to shoot multiple guns/divisions?

Makes it easy and quick
Also it’s a nice even playing field for everyone
If you wish to draw from a holster it takes longer then muzzle on the table but I’ll allow it

I hope multiple entries are not allowed on the same squad as that seriously slows the squad down and you have multi gun shooters not setting steel while the rest of the squad sets steel for them. From a shooter perspective i have found that I do much better focusing on one gun per flight rather than going back and forth between two at the same time

I will say if for some reason the match does not fill up I mite consider it last minute

I’ll admit I was only asking because it gets annoying when a shooter shoots more than one gun in a squad. They tend to focus a lot more on their shooting and a LOT less on helping out.

Are you planning to have dedicated ROs? Or will shooters be self RO’ing?

I’m looking for ROs to help and shoot with there squad
Same as self RO but know who and giving a discount for the help

Need volunteers to RO. Volunteer ROs will be allowed to shoot and will pay a discounted rate.
I don't know why I didn't understand the post, I think the spelling nazi in me threw me off (I'm not really a spelling nazi, I was just excited I caught one :))
what's expected to be a volunteer RO? can anyone volunteer?
Run the timer, run the ipad, make sure folks are painting, keep your squad moving, have a better than average knowledge of the rules, more from Rangezilla to come I'm sure. The ideal candidate should be able to multi-task since they will be running the squad and trying to compete at the same time.

Sometimes the distraction of RO’ing helps keep you from over-thinking your game plan. Not always a bad thing.
You’d be surprised at how many different ways you can screw up a straight left-to-right stage of steel when you have too much time to think about it…
