FAL receiver? Type I versus Type II

Can someone give me a definitive answer of the differences between a Type I and a Type II FAL receiver? I have a DS Arms catalog in front of me and it seems the only differences are lightening cuts and the Type I can be ordered with/without a carry handle cut out. Is this it?

Is one better than the other? If so, why?

The differences are primarily cosmetic. Function is unaffected and neither is more preferable than the other.
