In reading this piece of crap article in this left wing libtard newpaper, it fails to get to the root of the real problem which is that this nut bag was a convicted felon with a long crimminal history, and all though he did serve some prison time I would be willing to wager he was an early release prisoner set free by a bunch of liberal judges and parole boards with a failure to recognize his mental unstability. We would be much better served in this society if repeat offenders and career criminals were kept in prison serving their full sentence and at some point recognizing that people like him are not fit to be walking the streets. His own family knew he was a very unstable person to the point they didn't even want to be around him. Isn't it regretful that professionals don't recognize the danger these people present, or maybe its just easier to blame the gun.
Lax gun laws...what? The guy already violated about a half-dozen federal gun laws as is. Not to mention violating that law against murdering people.
Additionally, notice they don't say what laws would have prevented the shooting--merely that Georgia doesn't have FTF background checks. While the exact provenance of the Taurus used in this shooting is unknown--it was initially purchased from an FFL in 1996 when the shooter was in grade school--he had a history of using stolen guns; he was arrested in 2011 for shooting at a woman's car with a stolen .25 semiauto.
