A relocation from MA to RI could potentially be in the future. Most likely to Providence specifically.

I'm currently looking into purchasing a MA-complaint "EBR", have a LTCA in MA and own a Handgun.

Is anyone on here intimately fammiliar with RI gun-laws? Specifically WRT AR-variants?

Is there any sort of AWB in RI/Providence?

Thanks in advance!

edit: It would appear from this source (http://www.bradycampaign.org/legislation/state/viewstate.php?st=ri#aw) that RI is much like NH WRT "Assault Weapons"

ASSAULT WEAPONS
Are there limitations on assault weapons? No

Rhode Island - No state restriction on the sale or possession of military-style semiautomatic assault weapons. Assault weapons are as easy to buy as hunting rifles. Congress and President Bush allowed the federal assault weapons ban to sunset in 2004. See also: Large Capacity Ammunition Magazines

Anyone know if Providence specifically has any bans?

The state of RI does not have a AWB in effect. I grew up in Providence, RI, and there is no AWB in effect specific to Providence. AR's with all the fixings are perfectly legal in the state.

Thanks Denn.

In that case, it may be best to wait, yet there is still the risk that "The Messiah" may revisit the AWB.

Don't move to RI if you want to carry concealed. RI requires no FIDs to own guns. However carrying concealed is a different story. You can apply to a "green" police chief or to the AG in RI. The AG in RI almost denies everyone. The police chief depends heavily upon the town.

I was shocked when I found out how much of a nightmare it is to carry concealed in RI.

Is a good place to start.
