I recently won multiple items from the same seller on eBay. Part of the reason I bid on both items was because the seller was offering combined shipping rates. After several sent messages I've received no response from the seller (it's been 3 days) and I have not sent payment because the seller hasn't contacted me or adjusted the shipping rates.

What would you do, or have you done in similar situations?

I'm in absolutely no rush, but I've started to encroach on what the seller listed as expected payment date... then again, maybe he/she should reply to messages?

sometimes things happen.

EBayers aren't also the most efficient, professional or intelligent people on the net as whole, you're as likely to get some pensioner who just learned what this electronic thingy is, or some dodgy pawnshop. W/e, it's the risk.

Give it some time, and if you don't hear anything back, file a chargeback in paypal and look for new items. Sorry man.

Exactly. And you have been sending the messages to the seller through eBay, correct? If so, then you have some grounds of proof if you need to go to eBay for some mediation. I've had to do that before, and I had some neg feedback removed because I had the messages I've sent trying to work something out but was getting no response prior to the feedback.

Absolutely. I've tried to contact the seller 3 times via eBay messages and in at least one message I made sure to quote his advertisement for group shipping discounts.

eBay has some kind of payment period after which they will send you a notice warning you to pay. There are various ways that the shipping gets calculated. Some of them will automatically recalculate. In other cases the seller needs to adjust the invoice manually. If it's a big seller with lots of good feedback I'm sure they'll get back to you. If it's a new seller maybe they're trying to figure out what to do. Either way I wouldn't worry. If they were scamming you they would be anxious to get the money and run. LOL

Is the Sellers feedback good, bad or mediocre? If there is enough feedback to warrant confidence, that is what I use to decide whether to deal with or not. Communication is less of a worry to me than history. But that's just me. Good luck.

I've "ebay'd" for years. It's pretty simple. Make sure you make contact thru eBay's site before the prescribed time, and not thru general email. That covers you. If seller refused to respond, you're at least covered and can counter w/e BS the seller may try.

If the seller has decent feedback, 98% or better, I'm willing to bet they've had a senior moment and I wouldn't worry too much (I've had it happen, and have done it). Send contact every other day (thru eBay) just to keep com lines open. After two weeks, ping to eBay, and let them know the scenario to keep you "in the clear", so to speak.

I sell on eBay, and have had hiccups in the ol' shipment area over the years - flu, crashed system, away from the computer for a few days.

Unless it's an actual, multi-person business, you have to accept these things - you likely paid less on eBay than in the store.

Good - Fast - Cheap. Pick any two!

If you've asked for a payment total, then the ball is in the seller's court.

I agree with Joe Endris.. I've eBay'ed for years and always contacted the other party via my regular email. One time I didn't hear back from a seller and discovered that he was sending me messages via the eBay message center and not via email. Check under "your account" and go to the message center to check for messages from the seller. He may be sending you messages there.

Maybe if the seller is from CT or Western Ma, they don't have internet right now due to the recent storm. But, use the eBay contact options within the ebay system. That way you're covered. I know it's frustrating sometimes.

the timer doesn't start till the seller responds to your email or contacts you first. they cant rag on you for not sending a payment when you had no knowledge of where to send it to.

Brimfield still doesn't have power. Oklahoma just had an earthquake and the midwest has been having tornados so it could be anything. If the seller has 10,000 items listed it could be an oversight or just slow response time. You can always ask Ebay to contact the seller to find out why you aren't getting a response.

Did you check your "pay now" button. Sometimes the seller will issue a combined check out amount including the combined shipping, but forget to send you an email alerting you to that. Click "pay now" and see what the total shipping is for the 3 items.

If you are going to be paying under Paypal you'll be covered through them if you pay and don't get your item. I've had to use that coverage once and received a full discount through Paypal. I wouldn't pay any other way. Like a number of people here I'm thinking they just missed something. If the reviews of the seller are good, you should be fine. I wouldn't pay though until you hear from them. I won't bid unless someone has a 98% rating or better.

Thanks for all your replies... but the plot thickens. Today I went on to send another message, and to see if there's been any updates on the seller's feedback. When I checked the sellers feedback (previously 100%) I found two negative feedback... one says "19 days and product still not sent. No communication. Very Disappointed!!!" and the other is of similar content.

I wonder if this guy passed on or something? I guess I'm glade I didn't pay.

Get his contact info, and call him.

If no answer, (and he's got good FB to this point) perhaps he's ill. If you don't need the items for survival, chill.

Ebay is, for better or worse, buyer-uber friendly (I could rant on this), and the worst that can happen is that he leaves an unpaid item strike (might not be possible if he's not sent an invoice)...he can't Neg you.....

If the guy has been a stand-up seller, he may have a health or tech problem. If you want more advice, post the seller's ID so we, the Wise NESers [laugh] can see the seller's FB profile.

I have had a few odd interactions on ebay, i agree with everyone, stuff happens. I sold a big ticket item once and didn't hear from the guy for almost a week. I finally get a message from him, turns out he got deployed and had me send tracking info to another person so they could grab the stuff for him while he was in the sandbox.

Out of the ridiculous number of years I've used ebay, I've only had one negative thing happen - I won and immediately payed for a router from someone who "had to go back to greece for an emergency", and wanted me to send a second payment there and he'd mail me a money order back... Paypal returned my cash from the item payment within two days. No biggy.

Call him, email him, keep the "paper" trail, and move on. You aren't out any cash.
