Put in a lot of NH hours, hunted 7 days muzzleloader, and Thur-Sat this past week. Finally had three come out to me Saturday around 11am. Dropped this one, on the run. C-O said he was a year and a half and looked great considering his age. Weighed 141, he would have been a big deer. We'll see how much MA time I can get in this year...

Great job!

I finally SAW deer this weekend while still hunting. Got busted before I was close enough for a bow shot. But encouraging nonetheless!

Congrats! Great genetics if he has 7 at 1.5 years. I would have guessed 2.5. Great buck.
The Conservation Officer guessed 2 1/2 years also, at first. Then he cut the jaw and looked at the teeth and said he was missing both sets of molars that come in @ 2 1/2. I found it all very interesting. Decent rack AND great eating!
Tried a new butcher this year too who did a great job. Paid about $40 more than I'm used to but looks and tastes like he did a great job with the cutting!

This year I tried Taylor's Trading Post for the first time. They are over in Madbury. Considering the daytime temps were in the 50's and 60's I had to get him somewhere quick. He charges $95 for the first 100lbs. And .55 per pound over that. Deer ended up costing around $120 all told, which is a lot IMO. But he did a good job, labeling and double wrapping everything. Nice clean cutting. Nice thick steaks. He even gave me 2 racks or ribs, 2 roasts, and added fresh pork to all my burger.
I usually go to a family run cutters in Eliot ME.
