I have a very diverse background as a Technician. I have attained my Associates Degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering in 2011. My experience coupled with my education, has given me an excellent background in Engineering. I have had experience with repair of machinery, parts, and building maintenance, in addition to the Monitoring and Operation of SCADA, and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s) systems.
I am changing career paths because I am looking for long term stability. The course description for the Drinking Water Operator Training Course at MassDEP /Assabet Valley Center for Continuing Education was very similar to what I have been doing all along, maintaining and troubleshooting systems. I am impressed by the passion for the work every guest instructor has (something which has been missing from my last few jobs). Though the work is unseen and underappreciated, it is incredibly important to public safety and essential to life. I have passed the T-4 exam and, I awaiting my state license.

I'm a T3 for a municipality, and the positions get offered to other town workers before the public.

Maybe you could get an entry level DPW job and wait for an opening ? Good luck.

This! My wife works for W&S in Reading and I'm quite sure they're looking for backflow /cross connection technicians. I don't know how close that is to your background but thought I'd mention it. They only have a cross connection opening at their south shore office but I believe the Reading office needs them as well last I heard.

Their southern NH office has a listed opening for a drinking water operator:
Weston & Sampson Home - Weston & Sampson
