There are several folks who have written about using their dishwasher to clean their rack and field grade M1 stocks before refinishing. It’s not officially recommended by the CMP, but the forum has several threads on it. I myself have never tried it since my wife is actually a pretty good shot with a 1911 when she has sufficient motivation.
