Dog steps on rifle causing discharge that kills hunter

Nice. Loaded rifle on the back seat pointing to the driver.

One reason why a hunting dog needs to be well trained. Especially retrievers in hunting blinds. I was offered a Chesapeake retriever once, who had accidentally shot and killed his owner in duck blind. I passed.

Guy who had hunted with the deceased owner on previous occasion said dog lacked basics of sit and stay and would jump up on you in blind. Just too excited to be safe

I have seen articles on these incidents this several times over the years. it’s more common than you might think.
