Does the UPS truck pick up ammo? How to ship by UPS without going to service center: GunBroker sellers are making a fortune

I have shipped some ammo lately. When I went to UPS they asked the contents and had to call the hazmat department for an authorization code, so I don't think you can have it picked up. Also, I was recently at one of those business that also sends UPS packages. They indicated they could not send ammo from there. I think you are stuck physically going to a UPS counter.

Dave
This because ammo cannot go air. It needs to go ground at all times whether you use FedEx or UPS. Some years back I was shipping Sta-Bil by UPS and I had to ship ground only. It took a while to get to Texas but still within a week.

I've shipped shitloads of ammo, for classes or to reload my daughter, UPS and FedEx, always with pickup at my house, scheduled through my (free to sign up) online account. Usually FedEx is cheaper (because I get a discount), but I like to compare.

No secret. Not hiding anything. Slap this sticker on the side:

And I've never had a problem. No HAZMAT fee, no nothing.

I think you are being the skinflint, for not just selling it locally for less than you would get on gunbroker. You should be willing to get less money whilst serving your local compatriots.

Skinflint is as skinflint does.
This, seriously what extra are you making? $50, $200? I hope UPS loses it!

This is absurd and smacks of socialism.

If you are unhappy about the price a vendor is asking for a product you can exercise your right to not buy the product.

Reptile is doing what any smart businessman would do. Minimize costs of doing business, including labor, time, packaging, and shipping. He is also smart to identify the best market to offer his product. EVERY SUCCESSFUL SALES BUSINESS follows these basic practices.

His username is ironic, don't you think?

My work in Hopkinton is a scheduled pick up account. UPS stops twice a day. Lots of companies and hardware stores are the same way but don’t advertise public pick up or drop off. I’ll ask my driver tomorrow if he would ship out ammo for me if he can legally. I’ll report back tomorrow what he says.

LOL.

The username is apparently appropriate to the user.

Note the the following comment: "YOU should be willing to get less money whilst serving your local compatriots".

Let me guess - somebody is now feeling a little bit left out because they didn't bother to go out and buy guns and ammo back when it was cheap - because they felt they had better things to do with their money at the time - than spend it on guns and ammo?

I'm absolutely sure he's serious - these types come out of the woodwork and start whining each and every time the price of guns and ammo start going thru the roof.

In case your universal translator is broken, what he's really saying is: " I failed to prepare when times were good - and now I'm going to blame that lack of preparation on somebody else because my ass is puckered up so tight because of what might be coming and I'm so screwed now that I can't find any better solution than to start blaming other people for my predicament"

How do I get my local driver to stop by my house and pick up outgoing ammo?
The UPS service center is 45 minutes away and not worth the drive.
Ammo being sold on GunBroker is going for a fortune and it's all getting bought up.

I don't know if you can get the local driver to come by and pick it up - but I can tell you that I have shipped ammo thru both UPS and Fedex before - but I had to drop it off. In the case of Fedex I was able to drop it off at one of their pack & ship storefronts, but that was apparently due to the chick behind the counter not understanding what the rules were. Because after doing it like 10 times (yes I was selling off ammo at a profit on Gunbroker during one of the Obama era gun buying sprees) - I got told by the store manager that I had to go to a local distribution hub to ship the stuff out.

If I remember correctly I was not able to ship ammo or firearms out thru the UPS Store either - I had to go to the local service center to do that. I don't remember if I shipped ammo thru UPS, but I have shipped a number of firearms. Go prepared - in my experience the staff at the UPS service center didn't even know their own rules when I tried to ship a firearm. I had to look it up and print it out and show them what UPS said about shipping that stuff.

If they are going to be $1.50 p/rd the skinflints on NES should be PMing me now.

In my experience Gunbroker is always going to be a better place to sell stuff when there is a panic on. Simple fact of the matter is that it's a national market vs a regional market (NES)

I bought up about 100k of unprocessed 5.56 brass about ten years ago - luckily just prior to one of the Obama gun bans. When the prices started rising - I started processing. Deprimed, cleaned, polished - and packaged in 1000 count bags. Advertised on NES and Gunbroker - sold like two bags on NES - and sold dozens of bags on Gunbroker. Helped to pay for the Dillon presses , the tumbler, and all the rest of the tools and supplies I had to also buy to get the work done.

When I checked NES - there were multiple people doing their Free! impression in the forums whining about how people are selling brass at rapey prices.

None of them offered to setup a Go Fund Me account to help pay for all of that equipment - or refill my bank account after I pulled $$$ initially to buy all the brass. Nobody gave a shit either when the panic was over and I still hadn't recouped all of the initial investment.

When I was shipping ammo and guns much more frequently than I have lately - I talked to the Mgr. at the Fedex Store where I had previously been able to ship ammo thru - (he was now telling me I couldn't do it). According to him - one of the major reasons why they didn't allow pickups of guns and ammo by drivers, or - dropoffs at places like the Fedex/Kinkos stores - was because of theft and fraud. Since they (Fedex) - get all sorts of anal probes when things like guns & ammo go missing - they're simply covering their own asses by only allowing it to be shipped from certain locations.

For me UPS isn't a big deal - because the distribution center is the next town over and it just has a walk in office - Fedex USED TO BE EASY - even though it was a drive, but somewhere around 2010 or so if I remember correctly - they turned the place into a friggin armed fortress. Dropping stuff like ammo off was a damn nightmare because the placed got surrounded by an armed guard - so I would have to carry multiple very heavy packages to the drop-off desk. Prior to that - they'd actually let me pull my truck into the garage to unload right onto a pallet jack.

I would sell to local customers (1 mile from home) but I can make 20% more if sell on GunBroker.
The customers on GunBroker even pay for shipping without endless emails and meeting coordination.
But, I sure as hell am not going to drive 1.5 hours round trip to ship.
It's a sellers market and pretty soon with the new taxes on ammo being proposed by Harris - the demand is high.
Especially for Winchester White Box USA in 9mm and 45 and premium investment grade Federal Lake City 5.56 XM193 and NATO XM855 Green Tip.
FedEx would be much better than UPS since they are closer - even closer is Staples - if they accept ammo.

That's not even what I'm talking about- you want to make $500 on a case of ammo and you're not even willing to get a UPS account? (or do whatever it takes to get one)?

Take a few minutes to look up how to ship ammo through UPS or Fed ex probably take you less time than the Clickbait stuff you post constantly. Then if you have trouble finding a place to ship it ask some business people up that you might know that get daily pick ups or shipments out if you have a business account they’ll probably take it. I’ve had a local business that gets daily drop offs and deliveries out ship out ammo follow me in the past it all depends who’s working there in the businesses policy best thing to do is find a gun friendly business owner. You might even get a better price on shipping.

personally if its a sellers market make the buyers meet you where you want them to.

i dont have the liberty to travel trying to sell stuff so I meet at one of two gun clubs or my work.

Asked my route driver today and he said he would take orm-d packages and said sure, then he said he didn’t know what what they were so he’s gonna ask his boss later.

CVS stores are UPS pickups and Walgreens provides drop off service for Fedex if you have an account and bring the package with the prepaid label.

I have to wonder how UPS is handling this in the western mass area with the closure of the customer care center at the West Springfield depot/hub. I used to drop packages off at the depot, but now you have to use the UPS store further down the Riverdale road. I shipped back a couple of cases of steel case 5.56 like 7 years ago to the people I bought it from online because they were supposed to ship me 7.62x39 who after some phone calls shipped me the correct ammo.
