What's the difference whether you carry or not? The only thing that ever mattered to me is whether it was my choice!

You are absolutely right!

Every responsible adult ought to have that choice. What they do with it should be strictly up to them.

Great point. It matters nothing to me how many people are carrying (legally, as far as I'm concerned), but those that want to should always have the option, and that's not the case, and should be the bigger issue.

You are not going to prison for violating a restriction on your otherwise valid LTC.

Thanks for clearing that up. Someone else pointed out earlier it was a 10k fine with no jail time which is kind of a surprise to me.

It's actually up to $10,000...

M.G.L. c.140 s.131

A violation of a restriction imposed by the licensing authority under the provisions of this paragraph shall be cause for suspension or revocation and shall, unless otherwise provided, be punished by a fine of not less than $1,000 nor more than $10,000.

I never carry anymore, I used to, especially when I was stationed down south, but now it's such a hassle. Plus, I live and work in an area that I don't feel the need, perhaps if my AO was in another location I might carry more.

Too be honest, I'm more afraid of the idiots who are carrying that do not know how to use what they are carrying then I am someone robbing me or something like that.

Overall, I am glad that I have the ability to carry or not.

How many times have you ever heard of an idiot who was concealed carrying improperly using their firearm and doing something other than shooting themselves in the foot? If a law abiding citizen (trained or not) is a bigger concern to you than criminals you might wanna take a step back and re-evaluate your priorities...

Thanks for the advice, I'll get right on the re-evaluation.

A lot of the idiots that I hear about who shoot themselves, or others, are self proclaimed experts. Doesn't matter if they shoot themsleves in the foot or the balls, they are idiots who shouldn't be allowed to carry again. Most of them spend a lot of time in chat rooms talking, and less time downrange; then they strap it on and think they are superhuman.

And just because a person is "law abiding" it does not mean they are competent.

But I don't want to split hairs with you, like I said, if I lived/worked/played in an area where I felt threatened I might carry, but if SHTF I'm still looking out of the corner of my eye for that chat-room Rambo who can't hit the broad side of a barn.

Here you go, DickWanner - a few recent examples of the many that I could have selected in my ten minutes of Googling.

The idiots below appeared to be law abiding citizen, but they are still IDIOTS and should never be allowed to carry again. No soup for you.

And I know there are plenty of criminals out there doing much, much worse. But these people below are law abiding citizens; I shouldn't have to worry about that many law abiding citizens having AD or ND's. It happens all over the country, every day. It is scary, and sad.

Yeah, I am reevaluating,, I reevaluating how safe I feel around law abiding citizens who say it's their right to carry, think they know what they are doing, but can't follow simple firearms safety rules.

Congatulations, you can use google. You also happened to include 3 examples of LEOs who are NOT citizens carrying guns, a pilot, and the fricken infamous DEA agent. Not sure if those were intentional or you just didn't proof read. Still doesn't support your position that there are a ton of 'idiot Rambos' out there who are a legitimate danger to you.

Wow, that's an overwhelming body of evidence. Of the 13 listed 4 were LEOs, 1 was a pilot, 1 was an instructor, 1 was not even a handgun/CCW incident, and 6 "regular" people. Of the 6 regular people only 3 are mentioned as having a license. 8 took place in 2010, 2 in '09, 2 in '08 and 1 in '04. All this out of how many people who carry every day, including LEOs? Overwhelming.

Until you get affected, it is none of your business.

Hey guys, while we're at it, there's tons of idiots out there that I don't feel comfortable with the fact that they can just open their mouths and talk whenever they want. Can we stop them from doing that too?

ooh, and how about voting, as well, while we're at it? It's really dangerous to let someone that stupid vote.

I know where these people lived, and I am certain they didn't feel the need either as their neighborhood is one of the best in Wichita. Yet evil showed up anyway.

You do what you want, but don't expect many to take your reasons seriously.

When's the last time you witnessed an ND in public?

(crickets)

Oh, that's right, they don't really happen that often. Not enough to be concerned about, as a "danger". And even when they do happen, most of the time the only person that gets injured is the idiot that pulled the trigger.

I'm not excusing their negligence here, but what you've presented isn't exactly compelling evidence that there is anything remotely resembling even a "significant problem" of NDs among people who carry firearms on a regular basis.

Some old bag who shouldn't be driving is a far greater potential danger, and even that isn't very likely, but "old people pedal stomping through wal mart" on average is a higher incident rate than an ND's are. [laugh]

When we look at firearms "accidents" actually which result in injuries as a whole, most of them are all hunting related... not individuals carrying handguns for self defense.

Mrs Obama beliefs are fairly typical of anyone highly trained in any area. They expect a higher level of proficiency and safety as the minimum and don't feel safe around those that don't meet the elevated minimum.

How come when a poster says they don’t wear their seatbelt no one cares, and then when a poster says they don’t carry a gun the Earth flips off its axis?

Because this is a gun board. I agree with you though: it makes much more sense to wear a safety belt than to carry a gun (if you could only do one) because you're far more likely to be involved in a car accident than a shooting.

No one cares here, but over on the Northeast Vehicular Safety Devices forum, people get really pissy about such things.

I carry from occassionally, mostly because I don't want to get to the point where I don't feel comfortable carrying. My lifestyle doesn't often place me in situations where I am likely to need to defend myself or my loved ones with force. Also, my employer specifically prohibits firearms. Personally, I would feel safer in a world where EVERYONE was carrying a firearm. But I don't make the rules.

I think it makes sense to take a comprehensive concealed carry course if you're planning to carry. There is so much to consider: tactical, legal, moral, ethical and practical. An LTC may make it legal for you to carry, but it doesn't give you the training.

Why does it matter if they were LEO's, since they are law abiding citizens, don't ya think? Oh I get it they aren't regular packers like some of the clowns out there. Those were just a few of the example I can find, I can spend half my afternoon looking for more, but I won't becuase I really don't care. I SPECIFICALLY took a few examples of people who, above and beyond should not make those mistakes. Never mind the regular joes with no business carrying.

Do yourself a favor and do some research yourself and see how many more there are out there without exhausting your search options. Plenty of idiots.
