Do not read if you have high blood pressure (bloomberg suggests cops go on strike)

More hyperbole. The problem with a politician trying to line the police up firmly on the anti-gun side is that it will fail. We saw this in 1976 when the Boston Police Commissioner and the Middlesex Sheriff were primary backers of a ballot initiative that would have banned outright the possession of handguns in Massachusetts.

The initiative failed miserably much the the chagrin of it's overly confident sponsors. One of the chief opponents to the ban was the Boston Police Patrolman's Association. The defeat of the initiative and the BPPA's opposition so shocked the Commissioner that the BPD commissioned a nationwide study of police attitudes towards private ownership of guns. Guess what they found? Rank and file members of LE had overwhelming support for an individual right to possess firearms.

ETA: I don't' get the impression that NYPD members have a lot of love for Bloomberg. If he calls for a strike they'll volunteering on their day's off.

Blowberg,I mean Bloomberg is a raving lunatic, I dont take what Lunatics say as serious. As far as im concerned Blowberg can FOAD, YMMV

Bloomberg, the commander of "the seventh biggest army in the world" went on to say that "police officers want to go home to their families. And we’re doing everything we can to make their job more difficult, but more importantly, more dangerous, by leaving guns in the hands of people who shouldn’t have them and letting people who have those guns buy things like armor piercing bullets.’’

Does this include the scumbags in his own police force that steal department guns from police locker rooms and sell them on the street ???

And we're doing everything we can to make their job more difficult, but more importantly, more dangerous, by leaving guns in the hands of people who shouldn't have them and letting people who have those guns buy things like armor-piercing bullets," he detailed. "The only reason to have an armor-piercing bullet is to go through a bullet-resistant vest. The only people that wear bullet-resistant vests are our police officers."

Right [rolleyes]

He said this after the nut in colorado wore body armor while shooting up a theatre.
