I placed an order with Dillon on Sunday night for 9mm dies, caliber conversion kit and quick change assembly for my 550 thinking that it would be about a month lead time. Was notified yesterday that the entire order shipped [smile].

Hey,

How do you like your 550? was thinking of their 650 XL for myself, to be ordered soon.

I really like my 550, no regrets about not getting the 650. I have reloaded thousands of rounds on both. I like the fact that I can pull a case at any station for inspection without having to worry about the case feeder. Only feature I miss is the powder check, you have to be vigilant and visually inspect every case before placing and seating the bullet. Speed is not an issue as I will never approach Dillon's claims of rounds per hour. I am good with 200 rounds per hour, all checked in a case gauge, measured, hand inspected and in the box ready to shoot. I currently load 45acp and 38spl. Looking forward to 9mm, I am accumulating components now.

I have 2 650s and like them a great deal. My only complaint is the primer cup is a PITA to change from sp to lp. That's why I bought the second one. I load everything on them except 45/70. If you decide to get one go to Ebay and purchase a kit that allows you to convert the primer catcher to a tube set up that allows you to dump dead primers into a bucket or trash barrel.

My order from March 30th showed up ten days ago. Some things are still constrained it seems.

ETA: ordered some extra shell plate pins and a dillon primer loader gizmo.

Hey, I just checked my account on Dillon Precision and this is what it said;

I wonder what "Finalized" means?

Love those Dillon girls! Every month when the new catalog arrives, my wife never fails to inform me that I have "new gun porn".

yeh the Dillon girls get me in trouble too, I tried to point out to my wife what wholesome examples of young american womanhood they are and how they dont even have their fingers on the trigger

wifie said you re not looking at their fingers

I get no respect

PS I use a Dillon 550B for 9mm great results

Ordered a 550B and 9 MM dies on 6/11 received the dies late June and the 550B 7/3

Great press have reloaded 500 rounds, did have some setup issues with primer feed but have worked that all out.

Fired 250 at the range not a single issue in feeding or firing.

Congratulations on your 550! Initial set up can be tricky, I think I watched every YouTube "550" video ever made, and still had questions. Local guy and NES member "johniac7078" had the best set up videos. They really helped, especially when I changed from 45acp to 38spl and had to switch primer tubes.

Thanks I also looked at several videos and yes the internal primer Mag is easy to overlook.

My issue was a primer got stuck in the mag and I had to use DW40 to safely drive it out. I was not able to find it once it passed through the mag so I do not know what was wrong with it.

Shooters outpost has tons of dillon stuff in stock I just picked up a second xl650 from them for $50 less than dillon sells them for plus no shipIng or tax. They had about 10 in stock

With the exception of a few places on-line, I had no idea that you could buy Dillon retail, I'll have to check it out. Anyone else besides SO ?

I just had a RL550B in my hands and I'm trying to decide whether I get a new firearm or the loader. Right now I can't do both. He wants list price. Is list price too much to pay? When/if things die down can they be found for a lot less or are they one of those things that are pretty much the same price no matter what? Not sure if I flash cash instead of credit whether he will discount it or not.

I've always bought from Dillon or Brian Enos. With Brian shipping is free and a few items are discounted, with Dillon you pay shipping and no discounts. Now I find out that Dillon is available locally, discounted and no tax.

I'd opt for the press and begin reloading, you'll shoot more often and have a respect and appreciation for what goes into making a reliable cartridge.

I ordered a RL550B Press, 9mil conversion, and accessories direct from Dillon on 7/8. Order shipped in full on 7/10 and received today. I was prepared to wait weeks/months but I'm extremely happy I didn't have to. GB on Rainier bullets just came in so timing couldn't have been better. Time to try it out!

Riley's had the 650 for $566, pretty much the same as all online stores. Are you saying SO has it for cheaper than that and if so, what is the price?

Called Dillion last night on a technical issue actually talked with someone after being on hold for only abt 1 min. He said they are all caught up except for rifle dies
