What do you do on your birthday? Fish the Gallatin River in January!
I have been meaning to get here since we moved out but have not had the time. While it is known for its world class fly fishing in the summer, it is also fishable in the winter because of the spring creeks that feed parts of it. What a joy. I only had one hookup and I lost it because I thought it was a rock and did not set the hook hard enough. Still learning this tightline thing. Well, at least I had a chance to begin to figure out where to fish. I will be back....maybe in February. Oh, and thank you to my wife for coming with me and staring at me from shore for three hours. Hey, she had waders and a rod. I just could not get her to go into the water!
