Detroit Police Chief/Armed Citizens Make City Safer

“It could lead to vigilantism,” Detroit resident Sandra Hines said Thursday during a Detroit Board of Police Commissioners meeting. “We already have the open-carry law here, and we have the stand-your-ground law. We don’t need anybody encouraging citizens (to carry guns).”

Hmm, and you'd rather cower in place? Yes I know, dumb question.

Maybe I need a soapbox. Maybe I need my own op-ed piece. Maybe I need access to a damned microphone but for Christ sakes, as happy as I am to see a police chief come to his senses, why is it that we have to keep celebrating these tiny victories.

Attention world - I carry a handgun concealed. I do this not to be the police or to be superman. I do this to keep myself alive. I do this in the off chance I have a problem that can't be resolved by getting away from it, that I have a fighting chance to survive the encounter.

I want to survive the encounter. I don't want a medal. I don't want anything. I just want to be able to go home, in one piece and continue to be a provider to my wife and son. I want to go home in one piece so I can continue to be a law abiding, contributing member of society.

Seeing as we all acknowledge that there are those out there whose income and sustenance is derived from victimizing others, particularly law abiding citizens, who the HELL are YOU to tell ME I have to either fork over my hard earned winnings to THEM and still risk being injured or killed? Better yet, who is going to provide for my wife and 6 month old son after I'm ashes?

Yeah, see I thought so. How dare ANYONE tell me I don't have that right. How dare anyone paint me out to be the problem when the problems are the people they seek to protect and by protect, I mean secure another blood soaked vote with whatever subset, victim class they can create?

I carry to survive and its not your place to say or question me otherwise.

You can't explain this to the sheeple because they've been brainwashed to believe guns are dangerous and only HIGHLY skilled civilians like Cops should have them. What a joke but this is what they're decided to believe.

Then they need to be re educated. I know there's no rally planned, that there's nothing happening on the pro 2A front here in MA, but we have to start reminding these people that we aren't the problem. Right now, bored, undersexed women are taking the message under the mantra that they're mothers, they have to be listened to.

Where are the gun carrying mothers? For gods sake, tell your stories! Call the press! Make your own voices heard. I don't believe in running into Starbucks with an AR and bandolier across your chest (although for some women that would be hot), but I do think its high time that the message was taken away from the ignorant and the gutless.

Encourage Vigilantism??? Don't they realize that law abiding gun owners aren't out there "looking" to use there CCW??. It's there for a worse case scenario.

They always find someway to twist it!!!

as I've stated before this State is to far gone on more topics than just gun control. It's time for us to shelter in place until we can E&E this Socialist Utopia and make our way to a free State. The art of critical thinking has left most Ma. voters. They choose to allow their leaders to make most of their serious choices and there's nothing we can do about it.

would love to see a bare bones low cost gun courses to encourage more citizens in detroit.
