it's a pretty interesting vid, but overly simplifies things. Using their reason and logic, I can easily make a case that USSR was the most democratic country ever.

What really makes a difference is people's input and willingness to pursue change of course for the country.

Another things that's fairly important is that in a large enough country, democracy will never work and hence state and local community rights become very important. Having large government that caters to "average voter" is despotism.
