I cannot take seriously any poll that has Derek and Tony lumped in with Hanoi Jane.

[shock]

Are you suggesting that there are in fact some Internet polls that you really do take seriously [?] [!] [?] [!] [?]

Ken,

Are you suggesting that there are in fact some Internet polls that you really do take seriously

Why of course. Especially the ones that ask if I believe in the unbelievable!

[shock]

I was speaking to Derek as I started writing this (I took a detour for dinner before finishing this post).

Derek made the Presidents 100!

Derek is hoping to shoot for the top 20 tomorrow. I think he told me that 1500 or 15000 will be competing for this honor tomorrow! [When he's back, I'm sure he'll correct me. :) ]

He reports that it is hot as hell there, with high humidity. They are having a lot of trouble staying hydrated . . . remember they wear a heavy coat over a sweatshirt, with a leather glove. I don't envy them!

He also told me that Tony was running into trouble. He had to get his rifle re-barreled as the rifle wasn't holding groups well.

More later after I speak with him later this week.

I told him that all of us are pulling for them.

Way to go Derek!!!

Bummer Tony!!! I have faith he'll make it up.

When I recover from the 10 hour drive I will post the details. I was however told by CWO2 Williamson that I can receive a Marine Corps Distingushed Rifleman badge instead of the civilian one because I had more than 10 leg points from the Marine Corps. The same with the Pistol Badge when I finish legging out with that too :D

Congratulations & welcome back! I look forward to hearing more about Camp Perry and how the rest of the week went.

Yes, you'll have to tell us how correct the poll was... hehe

Tony has never shot high power competition until this year, I have shot on the USMC Rifle team. It wasn't a fair fight. [twisted]

CONGRATS! And welcome home. Ya did good!

Hey boys and girls! Well, made it back home around 0330 this a.m. and had to go back to airport for my rifle and luggage this morning. The return trip from Hell!

Anyway, you've all heard, Derek kicked ass even not shooting up to his own standards. Derek made the President's 100 and I had the privilege and honor of seeing him - and taking pictures of him - on stage at the awards ceremony receiving his Distinguished Rifleman's badge Friday night.

As for myself and my shooting partner Mr. Murphy, I think I encountered most of all of the "Perry Curses" and I placed first in the "Soup Sandwich" contest. The day before the President's 100 I had to have my rifle rifle re-barreled with new front base, front post and rear aperture. I had no zero's to speak of and my elevation was bottomed out giving me a sight picture of the grass below my target at the 200 standing and sitting.

Regardless, I had a great time and came away with a wealth of experience and knowledge (not to mention a MUCH lighter check book). However, I still rule at putt-putt and Go-Carts! [lol]

All the folks were great, especially the Reading crew. I was very proud to be a part of that team even if I only pulled the butts for them. A great group of guys!

As I said, I came away with much more than I can articulate. I now have a rifle that I have confidence in and a new shooting jacket that I've yet to use. I fullfilled an 18 year old goal of competing at the Nationals at Camp Perry. And, good, bad, or indifferent, my name is finally in the record books. I plan to follow Derek's example and make the President's 100 and Leg out on, or during, the NTI next year.

As I stated in the other thread, congrats on a job well done!

It's an honor to just make Camp Perry.

Having fun and learning a lot is also a valuable experience.

You'll be forearmed for next year's Nationals!

Way to go guys! :D

Tony hun - you got to go where a lot of people want to. You made it to Perry. And kicking ass in go karts is something to be damn proud of!! [lol]

We're still very proud of both of you. [wink]

Tony, you went and you competed. Some folks never make it to that point, but you have. That's something to be proud of on it's own, no matter how you ended up. And besides, I'm sure it won't be your last trip, will it?
