Democratic candidates for Governor

Thanks for the welcome. I've been lurking for some time now... but this political race is an important one and I've been looking for additional information that I've found in abundance from you folks.

I frequent the Mass Rifle Association. You'll recognize me by my Yugo SKS 59/66 and my Russian M44. Looking to add a 91/30 PU "put together" once my C&R shows up. [smile] Hope to see some of you around.

Too bad Mihos isn't really in the running. I'm sure most folks already know that he's a supporter of the "Castle Doctrine."

Yes we are well aware of Mihos and his stance on the 2nd. But you're right about him giving an honest effort in winning the election.... [sad]

I really think that a Democrat will get into the corner office this year. From my view it appears that Healy just doesn't have 'it' as far as electability. And if thats the case we need to think long and hard about the lesser of the three evils.

This is an election we need to focus on keeping the laws status quo at the least. With Deval or Her Furor in office we will most likely see even more laws.

Voting for what you believe in is great, but sometimes you have to dance with the devil to get what you want.

And right now, I'm still up in the air as far as who I am gonna vote for.

And with that in mind, I plan to vote for the first time in my 34 years as a voter in a Democratic Primary. I plan to vote in the primary to choose who Ms healy will run against in case she does not make it.

A Vote against Riley is a vote well cast.

Regards,

I too plan on voting in the D primary...

And plan on giving Gabreilli the vote... again... simply because I think that IF healey dosnt win... at least it sounds as though under Gab.... we wont loose more.

Ill say this again... we really need to be concerned with the AG race. Larry can really do a lot to help gun owners... the other one (her name escapes me at the moment[hmmm] ) will only make matters worse.

“Tim felt very strongly that the way he wanted to introduce himself to people across the state was to talk about Worcester and talk about the success the city has had and the things he’s most proud of while he’s been mayor,” Mr. Ferson said.
Wonder how proud he is that Allegiant Airline is pulling out of the Worcester "Intergallactic" Airport?

Your 71??????????????

Notice I said 34 years as a voter [wink]

You can declare the day of the primary and return to your previous unenrolled status on the way out. Real easy to do from what I have been told.

Well, I didn't vote when I was one, obviously, but....hmmm, I began voting when I was 18 back in....oh, nevermind, I don't want to remember! [laugh]

Maybe we are asking the wrong kind of questions

Is there another way of questioning candidates that would put them under more pressure to give an pro-gun answer? Almost every pol, when pressed, is for gun ownership "within reason". After they say that, they follow with a "BUT..." and a bunch of equivocation and details, and those people who aren't particularly interested in the question stop caring.

HOWEVER if we can ask them questions like:
"My friend is a single mother living in the Uphams Corner area of Dorchester, a neighborhood that has been suffering a string of drug related break-ins. The neighborhood is so dangerous that she said she would feel safer if she had a shotgun in the house to protect herself and her baby from a home invasion. Unfortunately, Mass law is so restrictive that she does not have the time and money to jump through all the hoops necessary to provide for her, and her child's safety. What will you do to make it easier for the poor people in Boston, facing a spiraling crime rate and unprotected by an understaffed police force, to protect themselves?"

OK, admittedly that question might be a little ridiculous. But if we could make them choose between promising to fight for gun rights OR say they are willing to let poor people/mothers/elderly die, then the "reasonable sounding" answer would be the one that is pro-gun.

I think those are the type of people they DON'T want buying guns. They don't want people without training to be holding on to one of these evil guns which might go off based on emotion. To some extent, I agree that people without skills or training maybe SHOULD think twice about this.

Democrats don't want their wards to have guns. They NEED the minions to be there begging for help.

The only people they are OK with guns are the people who need no help, can write big fat checks, and are willing to have their feet kissed with all kinds of special perks and such from the ruling class.

Just look how well that mentality worked last year in New Orleans. All those Democatic voters standing around waiting for the governement to come save them.

As far as I'm concerned, the Democratic party is for two types of people.

1) The Elite with aspirations of power who view the old feudal system as an ideal society. (of course with them at the top)

2) The under-educated simple folk who would rather have someone else take care of the problems and are willing to give up theri freedoms for the mystical easy life.

The sad part is that America is turning into one or the other of these two groups.

They'll likely just sidestep the whole thing and not answer your question.

They might just opine that they "agree with enforcing existing gun laws."
which is the default position that is usually trotted out by most politicos
these days.

Or they might start in on a bradyesque tone about the so called "right of
people to be free from gun violence" emo-crap rebuttal. ...Someone likely to be running for governor
is probably not quite that inflammatory. ...

The problem in MA is even if you DO get the politician to take a pie in
the face on being a retard about the gun issue, they can do so without
feeling any political sting from it whatsoever. You can even catch them
telling something which is a LIE to people, and people simply won't
care... least not most of them. Most voters here are either
completely ignorant about the metric ton of gun laws, or they
simply don't care. This kind of antipathy is what allows the antis
to win... they know the block doesn't care, so they get away with
murder.

...

This doesn't mean you shouldn't try to do it, though. The fact that
a question may actually get through the gauntlet of crap and be
addressed is good in and of itself, but we have to work on the voting
block itself, not just the politicians.

...

How about if Healy and Hillman are speaking at a gun club? I am thinking all is fair then, right? Oh, and they ARE speaking at a gun club coming soon.

I made my statement in the context that you would be asking candidates
whose stance wasn't made abundantly clear from the get
go. Asking Healy this question is going to get an answer you want
to hear, she's not hiding about the issue at this point.

All I know is theyd damn well better hurry. I see the Devil Patrick
trojan horse thats filled with moonbats looming in the distance. I'm
starting to think that way too many commoners in MA are buying into Deval's
socialist snake oil. He's getting away with playing "normal guy" when the
few of us that know better, know that "8.0 LITERS OF COMMUNISM" is
lurking under the hood of his soon to be regime.

As of this morning, a CBS4/Boston Globe poll has Patrick @ 55%, Healey @ 30%, Mihos @ 7%, and Ross @ 1%. CBS4 is running a story that Dems who were pictured in her latest ad supporting her and Romney signing a crime bill want the ad pulled as it allegedly mischaracterizes them, and they are running the Mihos "head-up-your-butt" ad. Seems most will just vote D or R regardless of how crazy the D is. But there is a population of voters who will vote for whoever is winning the poll when November comes. Me thinks it's time for Healey to start kicking some @$$.

unfortunately if her campaing staff doesnt pull their heads out of their asses soon... I think we'll all be learning a new language as a means of adapting to our many freaking illegals that flock to MA

Personally... I'd LOVE to see Mihos as Gov... realistically... Healey or Patrick will most likely win... unfortunately those that actually vote on the real issues at hand will be split between Mihos and Healey...

Final results will be that asshat Patrick setting up his office come the new year.

[crying]

Somebody should find out when the next discussion/debate takes place. Usually, there is a chance to submit questions.

The subject should be: Human Rights / Civil Rights

Then hit them with the big one; the question of what they think of MA gun owners civil and human right to self defense and how they can improve these rights for residents of MA.

THIS is what I was talking about. We need to ask ALL candidates these types of questions:

mAss Backwards "Interview" with Doug Obey

OK, here are the five questions I sent Doug, as asked by you, my readers (note that some of the questions have been rephrased, or combined with other related questions). Naturally, most of the questions centered around the rights (or lack thereof) of gun owners in the Commonwealth. I tried to condense those as best I could into questions 1 and 2. I will update this post (bumped to the top of the page) with his respones, which will be printed unedited, in the exact form in which they are received.

1. On your website, you highlight your support for firearms registration. Can you cite one example of a past crime which was solved by the registration of a firearm? How would firearms registration prevent future crime? - Jay G./Ron

2. Would you actively support "shall issue" laws pertaining to the issuance of firearms licenses in Massachusetts, which would require unrestricted Licenses to Carry a Firearm be issued to any and all applicants who meet the legal requirements for possession of a firearm? - Mike/Jeremiah

3. What is your plan to return Democracy to the People's Republic of Massachusetts and actually enable things like the Tax Roll back referendum, that was voted on and passed, to be put in place? How far are you willing to go to prevent further outrages from happening in the future? How will you stand up to the Senate leadership? - Bob

4. Do you support the right of the people to vote on the gay marriage question? - Debbie

5. Do you support allowing open competition among auto insurers in this state to allow consumers more choice in selecting an insurance carrier? - Scott
