I am a member at Andover Sportsmens Club, and we have a broad age range of members. From 18 - 90. I would say the average age range is 30's - 40's and everyone pretty much mixes well. I really don' t know where to pay and shoot on the northshore other than Bob's. There is Manchester Firing Line in Manchester, NH but I do not know their prices.

Until you find a local range to join, here are the rates of the public ranges available (if I missed one, I apologize). Good luck and congrats on your LTC! [grin]

Original Bob's:– Range fee is $20 per lane for up to 2 people.
– Each additional person is an additional $5.
– Maximum lane capacity is 4 people, but we recommend a maximum of 3 for the sake of comfort and space.
– Range fees include the use of eye and ear protection provided by us.

Hello everyone. I recently got my class A on the north shore of Mass. I've been looking around and I'm trying to find a place to shoot my .22lr SR22. I've been looking at the clubs, but is there anywhere I can go to shoot in the mean time while I wait for the membership meetings and such?

I've read about Bob's original shooting range, but I didn't know if there was anyplace cheaper than the $20/hr to shoot my .22...Anyone know if there are any "pay to shoot" handgun ranges on the Northshore?

Another note...Are the club members generally older? I'm in my early 20s and was wondering if I'd be the youngest around if I were to try to join.

I think others have covered the public ranges available. As for member ages, I have found even if members are older they tend to be happy and excited to see young people joining. It shows there is a future for the club when the older members stop going (that was the way a member in his 70s phrased it to me). Of course they also may have spent decades helping fix up and clean the ranges so damaging things is a one way ticket to get on their bad side.

Most clubs seem to members of all age ranges, however the people that hang around a lot tend to be older. The only other pay-to-shoot clubs I've heard of in MA are AFS & MFS, neither are near the north shore.

Check out the thread on the Martin Burns public range. It's owned by the state, and free to shoot at, but you need a specific permit for that range.

I belong to both Cape Ann and Mass Rifle in Woburn. Cape Ann has meetings on the 2nd Wed of each month and the office is opened on Sunday 9 am-12 noon.

You're getting older a little bit every day!
