DeLeo gun bill public hearing - carpool thread

I hope they do too. I'm sure your people have a clue.

Assenthal most likely gets a call from DeLeo for these events asking him what time he'd like to speak and how much time he'll need. [hmmm]

I sincerely think it should be stated for the record to the panel that equal representation does not mean rich people are given extra time and are heard before everyone else. Its bullshit.

Here's how it will go down:

- Specially picked people expressing the "correct" position will be allowed to speak - public officials, doctors, etc.

- The high ranking people hearing testimony will leave the room

- The little people will speak and the low ranking reps will pretend to listen.

This is why after this occurs the first speaker NAMES AND SHAMES the officials which got up and left. The first worlds should be along the lines of, "I would like to recognize X, Y, Z, for leaving this hearing and NOT listening to the testimony by the majority of people in attendance today" You give a good short concise sound-byte which is potentially devastating if it makes it on-air or viral online.

Get there early and grab up some of those front section seats that the moms blah blah etc. will try to grab again. They're planning on being there for 10am. Don't let the commieslators have the chance to stare at nothing but a see of 'moms' in front of them. The ammosexuals need to be out front and proud, not hiding in the corners. [wink]

You're right about that - here's the schedule they've published for Tuesday:

Action Day Schedule

9:30AM - Arrive at State House (security lines will be long)
10:00 AM - MA Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence Press Conference: 3rd floor lobby, outside the House Chambers
10:45AM - Head down to Gardner Auditorium to fill seats for the Public Hearing
12:00PM - Public Hearing on the bill begins
1:00PM and beyond - visits with your legislators

As for a "sea" of Moms, that remains to be seen..

Oh, and they're supposed to be wearing purple for their cause (whatever that connection is I don't know).

Is anyone planning on carpooling/bussing from the Cape? I'm on the outer Cape (Wellfleet), planning to take the day off work. I'll rent a car if I must, but would rather carpool (or meet off-Cape to ride together, say off Rte. 3 somewhere).

It wouldn't surprise me, if they are led into the hearing directly from their "press conference", just ahead of the general audience, spoiling anyone's plan to arrive early to get "preferred" seating.

What I am saying is that the little people will be treated as little people, and the floor belongs to those with social prominence and power.

The real contribution in going is not your testimony (that WILL be ignored), but the packing of the room showing there are a lot of people who care.

Now, if we can get a doc to speak for our side, and sneak onto the "important people allowed to go first" list because of heavy patient load, then speak for us, that would be something.

They do treat the GOAL rep as an "important person" and give that person prime, reserved me, speaking time. Others wishing to speak for our side must play the VIP card to speak at the beginning when people are listening.

Just say. I am hear to oppose this Bill because after speaking with my good friend Martha Coakley we are both in agreement that this bill will do no good for gun safety and will only hurt legal law biding gun owners.

I fully support this plan

Wake-up call; we have a state Supreme Judicial Court which officially does NOT recognize the 2nd Amendment as protecting an individual right. We cannot count on the state courts to uphold our rights. This fight is going to have to be brought all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court. We are ultimately going to need the help of organizations like Second Amendment Foundation, Cato Institute (think Alan Gura, et.al) and so forth.

Well they are late. Our rights have already been stepped on, over and over again. by the way NY, CT, CA could use some help.

most organizations wrote of MA a long time ago, including the NRA

Jews like John Rosenthal make me ashamed of my heritage. All the more so when I consider that something over 90% of American Jews support this kind of garbage. Did we learn NOTHING in the 20th century? One great antidote-J.P.F.O. (Jews for the Preservation of Firearm Ownership, www.jpfo.org.)

Looking for a ride from the outer Cape (can meet anywhere between P'town and Sandwich), to ride either to the State House or the Quincy T station. Early departure will clearly be necessary. Call John @ 774-487-8917.

Give em hell! I would love to make this but unfortunately I am going away for .mil training (so I can steal all your guns when this bill passes)

Maybe you can have Hank Naughton say a few words on our behalf.

;-)

So how do people opposed get heard?

By lighting themselves on fire on the steps of the statehouse.

Too true.

How about a Comm2A rep? NES rep? NSSF rep? NRA rep? GOA rep? MSC rep? Then one from each county league. Then from the various competition groups (IPSA? IDPwhatever?). How about any clergy on our side? Teachers? Police? Again, our side should have had these things thought of in advance of this, and certainly the NEXT TIME, right?

Maybe not that, but each person should RECOGNIZE each panel member, one at a time. That way, there is a check along the way of who is or is not present. Can someone list all the members of who is holding this hearing? Oh, don't forget to thank Deleo and Patrick for being there.

If this happens someone needs to take pics of the douchebags and their special "were better than the publick" seating, and post it on faceplant etc and get it passed around a bit.

Maybe NES can hire some "handlers", to walk in escorting a whole bunch, and then announce the arrival of several "focus groups" who would like to speak. Make sure to have names for the groups like "Concerned Dads for Safety" and "Civil Rights Will Prevail", etc.
