So after Daughter #1 came to the range with me See thread here, daughter #2 and her friend wanted to come down.
Again started them off with safety, dryfiring, then with my Sig P229 with 22LR conversion at 7yds. I found some 50foot rapid fire "splatter" targets which are ideal for beginners.
We've found a daemon shooter in my daughters friend, as the caliber went up, so did the size of the smile, and still putting them in the middle. No problem with either of them with my P229 put back to 9mm, and the friend went for it with my SW1911PD - and handled it beautifully. Told her to plan for pin shooting by the end of the summer
Another family came down with another first time shooter - let her shoot my P229/22LRconv all from 7yds line - NB, NLRG is a great club for this as no issue shooting forward of the covered area - 15yds is just too far for their first time IMHO
