Any wallets you keep on your computer you should backup regularly to an external hard drive or USB or something

I think them being persuaded to act on your behalf by a 3rd party is the real threat here. Ledger seems to be doing pretty well but you never know.

I'm betting on XRP. Also VeChain. Both are long term holds.

I just bought 110 XRP - what the hell ($50)

My account is now north of $900 with $350 invested - not touching it until I'm a millionaire though, it could take a couple months.....

Now is still a good time to buy. Alot of people think the next run up is going to be to $20k by the end of the year.

When he posted it was a little under 0.30. Right now it is just over 0.45. A 66% increase?

    (Talking about XRP).

You're probably right. XRP has some cool features, but buttcoin is my only mistress.

Yup, much better than my 401K. Bitcoin is booming at the moment but the alt season hasn't kicked in yet.

I've been so busy dealing with the mess of cleaning out my mother's old house, selling it and moving her into the new house that I've paid no attention to hardly anything. Can anyone give me a summary on what might be making bitcoin go up now? I had been blissfully ignoring bitcoin in hopes it goes up enough that I might want to sell some more. But, at $13,400 now I see it's gotten back into the range where I need to think about again. Sell some now or hold? I suck at this stuff.

And, I really don't want to have to see McAfee eat himself so I do hope it keeps going up. It's not just for selfish reasons... I do wish him well.

Traders will buy anything that they think will go up. Stock market, bitcoin, gold. They don't care why. Bitcoin successfully weathered the bear attacks and is now back in an uptrend, and that's all most buyers need to know.

Supposedly this time it’s institutional money as opposed to new people FOMO’ing into the market

I doubt it. BTC only has ~1 million active wallets and probably significantly less people than that using it as an individual.

The price of BTC is probably mostly controlled by the cost of electricity in China and coordinated bot trading. FOMO brings up the rear for major rises.

I'm doing pretty good on BTC at the moment, and cannot wait to sell. I don't see any reason for BTC to stick around long term. It's only perk at this time is it was the 1st to get big and as a result the current gold standard. As soon as one of the alts finds a legit use and is accepted by an industry I suspect BTC's days are numbered. I don't have any problem making some money in the process, though.

You’re probably right, I’m just parroting what I heard. I agree though, btc network is just so slow compared to xrp or some of the others I can eventually see the market moving away from btc.

I own much more Ripple than Stellar, but I'd prefer Stellar at the end.

BTC for pump and dumps, Monero for secret business, Basic Attention Token for the ad situation, Stellar for the banks/currency and most importantly doge for the meems.

I guess ETH for contracts or something. Not sure if theres an actual demand or need for it but whatever. I own way to much of that also.

Honest answer ... no one really knows.

It is most likely someone dumping a few million, prices go up, people freak out, FOMO kicks in and start buying until that initial buyer dumps it.

There is a ton of fake information online combined with a bunch of wannabe analysts that always talk about coins going up 2,000%. 99% of information online is pure sh*t.

for sure nearly all the info from "news" is fake or made up. And yes without a doubt the crypto economy is basically owned by rich people pumping and dumping.

    It's an epic shit show.

If I could go back in time, I'd do this...

Buy thousands of bitcoin when it was $1.

Hold on to it and hope my wallet wont get hacked.

When it was worth $20,000 - I'd purchase 20 million in precious metals on APMEX.com.

Would you believe they accept bitcoin for payment for gold?

How I'd spend it - who knows?

    Great problems to have.

    $1?

One of my offspring was in at 2 cents. He talked it up, and I would have gone in for a hundred bucks or so, if it hadn't been so exclusive and difficult to access back then.

He lost his digital wallet, because he was doing what college kids do.

That lost wallet is worth many millions today.
