I have been asked to rid some ones property of coyotes. Will be hunting on Cape Cod. Need advice and also what can be used for gun. Was actually thinking of using my STI .38 super with 115 gr at 1400+ fps.

Sounds like fun!

Do you really plan on doing it with a handgun?

*I am a new hunter*

I am debating hunting them and was planning on using my AR15. When I did some research on scopes, most people suggested around the 3-9x magnification which means they would expect some significant distance. (certainly more than pistol ranges)

.22LR or smaller at night for rifle, .38 or smaller at night for pistol. Day time is not restricted, unless you're on a wild life management area, you have to use a shotgun. Check the regulations in the hunting abstracts for the minor differences across the deer and pheasant/quail seasons.

Use a shotgun at night. Rimfire is just too small.

If you intend to keep the pelts, the .17 centerfires are the most popular, with .204 Ruger catching up fast.
