Looking for a smith in New england are that does Lever guns and pistols , smoothing up actions for cowboy shooting games

if you're wanting to be a serious competitor give 'em to a cowboy specialist smith, otherwise a general practitioner will do. you wouldn't take your indy car to "bobby's auto repair" would you?

Did my Rugers, Marlins and Stoegers. Great guy.

Very happy with the work.

Jimmy Spurs is nationally known. He moved from southern NH to way up north so stopping in is more difficult. If you don't mind shipping he is worth it. Hell, a phone call to him might help you find someone close. Best of luck. Matt

Not so much for “comp” just want it done nice. Sometimes I will use a general smith if I dont have tools or skills. Sometimes I rather have the smith that does X not ABC and sometimes X

I hate to burst your balloon but a Win 94 is a poor choice for CAS. It’s design does not lend itself to a pistol cartridge for this game. Best is a Winchester 1873 or 1866 from Uberti or Miroku. Marlin would be next followed by a 1892 design.
not so much for games or CAS just looking for a good smith with a niche for the lever guns

I would think that most competent gunsmiths could work on a post-64 Winchester 94. Have you talked about what you want to do with your "go to" gunsmith?
i dont have a go to smith
well pistol work will go to Greg Derr
after that I dont have a go to.
This is why Im looking for specific skill set.

If you get familiar enough with the guts on CAS type guns, you can slick up the actions yourself with minimal effort and tools. I’ve done my own work on my Rossi M92 and Uberti Cattleman’s. It’s not that difficult.
This is not for mine. I dont do work for others. Maybe if I can get state approval for my shed to do gun smithing i will move forward getting FFL for smithing
