Cop lashes out at media/judges

Why be silent.. this politically correct BS and liberal activist judges are destroying the fabric of this country. This story reminds me of that Judge Murphy, that was finally removed from criminal cases either in New Bedford or Fall River, I can't remember which..

I do remember cops from Fall River to Brockton lashing out at that particular judge. One of his quotes I remember is "She's 14, she got raped, she'll get over it"

There needs to be a sytem in place to remove moron judges... see this all too often...

"doesn't he have a right to bail" I have to say... his response was a lot calmer then mine would have been.

Judges should be elected. Best way to hold them accountable.

Like they did in CT??

It was (in the early 1970s) "pull the lever for all Rep judges" or "pull the lever for all Dem judges". That was it!! No idea who or even how many you were voting for!

My reaction was "WTF"!!

Chief Anthony Scott of Holyoke MA has been getting on judges for their revolving door ploicy for the last four or five years. Every once in a while Howie Carr has him on to talk about the juducial system in this state.

But not too often. After all, if people actually got mobilized and fixed the problem, Carr would have one less thing to talk about. Not necessarily singling him out, but part of the problem is that there are far too many people who'd rather gripe or whine about a problem than actually do anything about it.

Effing bastard, I'd like to go stick a baseball bat up his arse and tell him to get over it.

Were you refering to Mass? Given how electing politicians works so well in our fair state, could you imagine what we would get for judges if they stood for election?

Look at places like Texas where judges are elected. You have well funded organizations and businesses, expecting to have cases go before a particular court, that will invest big dollars in electing judges seen as favorable to their case/cause.

Frontline on PBS ran an interesting program a couple of years ago about justice for sale, focusing on the fallout in many of the states where judges are elected. Supreme Court Justice Kennedy was interviewed extensively and offered some pretty compelling reasons as to why electing judges is evil.

we at least need a public review board.

Judges should be placed up for review every so many years and have to be reviewed by a pannel of elected officials, attornys and citizens.

They could present justification for their actions and the review board could decide if they were just or not... if not... YOUR FIRED!

In California, the State Supreme Court justices (appointed by the Governor and confirmed by the State Senate) have to face reconfirmation by the voters every so often. If they've managed to piss off a significant portion of the electorate, they're gone. Back in '86, the Chief Justice, who had voted to overturn every single death penalty appeal that came before the court, ended up looking for a new job. That way the voters don't get to pick 'em, but they can kick 'em.
