Got this today from a close friend who has a baby girl on the way. Some things have more priority than others.

What we have is a rare pre-war Gew98, 1906, made by Deutsche-Waffen-und-Mutionen-Fabriken. This was an honest closet find that is all matching down to the screws, save the bolt, which matches itself. The bolt happens to be of DWM as well based on the fracturs (bolt proofs). Cleaning rod is unmarked. I added an original WW2 muzzle cover and decent reproduction sling. Bore is OK, and may clean up a little better. Not bad for 111 years old.

Hope to get an ID on the unit shortly.

And more detailed ones. Front action screw was frozen, which explains why it was buggered. Took a half hour with Kroil to get it to let go.

Very nice, proofs aplenty.

I ran into a Gew98 in a shop I've been trying to identify, if you'd be willing to try to assist. I can take it to PMs so as not to clutter the thread.

Looking forward to prizes 2 and 3. Are they in any sort or order, or just as they arrive?

"Daylight" scene has to be on the floor; too much snow outside and more on the way.
