I did a google search and also searched here but couldn't find out what the deal is as far as picking up a gun you had for sale on consignment at a gun shop? Should you have to show ltc? Fill out a 4473 and background check? Fa-10? It makes sense that the dealer wouldn't want to be held liable for returning a firearm to a newly prohibited person but wasn't sure if there's a rule... Thanks

4473 and NICS check is all that is needed, to get it out of the dealer's BB and back into your hands. Showing LTC is typical, too.

Note that some shops charge a small fee for pulling consignments.

BTW, the 4473 NICS business has nothing to do with a "dealer being held liable" or any of that kind of crap- it's federal law that it be done on return from a consignment.

There are other circumstances where guns cross dealer books but require no
NICS check.... and those are, dealing with other FFLs, and handling customer
repairs/gunsmithing. A NICS check is not required to get a gun back under a notional of repair.
