VERNON, Connecticut - Connecticut State Police arrested a 24-year-old Vernon man after he sent an email to a local television station in which he vowed to become "the next school shooter."
Oscar Rodriguez is charged with first-degree threatening and second-degree breach of the peace: threatening, and threatening in the first degree. He is being held on a $250,000 personal surety pending his arraignment, according to state police.
He is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Hartford Superior Court.
He was arrest Monday after state police were notified by officials at Fox 61 News. The television station received an email tip from Gonzalez that station employees felt was threatening.
According to police, the Gonzalez's email claimed he was going to shoot up a school. No specific school was mentioned in the email, police said.
Vernon is roughly 20 miles south of Longmeadow.
