Concealed carry holder shoots gunman in head in Chicago, police say

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) - A concealed carry holder shot and critically wounded someone who approached him with a gun Monday in Little Village on the Southwest Side.

He was walking into an apartment alley about 4:15 p.m. when a man approached him in the 2500 block of South California Avenue and took out a handgun, Chicago police said.

The man, 25, took out his own gun and shot the 20-year-old in his head, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

Earlier this month, the city of Chicago wrote a check for $399,950 to the Second Amendment Foundation, a gun rights group located in Bellevue, Wash. The check was a reimbursement for legal fees the foundation incurred in the McDonald v. Chicago case, which resulted in the United States Supreme Court overturning the city’s ban on handguns.

“The city lost that action,” said Julianne Versnel, the foundation’s director of operations. “Because it was a constitutional civil rights case, the city was required to pay the cost.”

Like all city checks, it’s signed by Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Comptroller Amer Ahmad. The McDonald case was argued and lost by Richard M. Daley’s administration. But that’s not stopping Ted Cruz, a U.S. Senate candidate from Texas, from using it to tweak Emanuel. Cruz posted a photo of the check on his campaign website, under the headline “Rahm Pays For Violating Second Amendment.”

chicago does not issue carry permits. the concealed carry act is a shall issue that illinois was required to draft, IIRC due to McDonald vs Chicago that went to SCOTUS. it is actually quite easy to get your CCW in illinois. the problem is the cost I belive it's something retarded like $300 of course to prevent the working class folk from exercising their rights. the duration of training requirement is something dumb like 48h or whatever, although the upside is that we've seen a surge of new CCW trainers which is good for 2A businesses.

It would be awesome if the MA AG had to sign something admitting to Constitutional Civil Rights violations...

CHICAGO (AP) - Singer R. Kelly is expected to plead not guilty to 11 new sex-related felonies at his Cook County arraignment.

Thursday's hearing in Chicago comes a week after prosecutors announced the new counts, including four aggravated criminal sexual assault ones. Each carries a maximum prison term of 30 years.

Kelly pleaded not guilty in February to 10 related counts of aggravated sexual abuse involving three girls and one woman over roughly 10 years starting in the late 1990s.

Now if only someone would put one in this a**h***'s head.
