I just watched a re-enactment of the Columbine shooting. Anyone else see it? It surprised me. There was no anti-gun stuff in there at all. Infact, they said they still don't know where they got everything from.

The main theme of blame fell on the police. Everyone said they waited way too long to go in to the school. There were a couple parents and a few of the survivors.

One kid (IIRC his name was Aaron) actually blamed the parents of Eric Harris. They should have searched his room, etc. They knew he was a danger. Infact, they played the recording of Harris's father calling 911 saying he thought his son might be involved in the shooting at the school as it was still going on.

Harris was one VERY disturbed kid. They had him on Zoloft for 6 weeks and he told the doc he was having suicidal and homicidal thoughts. So, instead of finding out what was wrong, they changed his meds and put him on something else. [roll]

That could have been handled a lot better by the police. (and I'm not knocking them really), but the outside door to the library was open and they could hear them in there shooting the kids. The Littleton police have now come up with much faster response rules because of this. One would certainly hope so.

I'm glad to hear that. Whenever a anti-gun-type mentions Columbine I tell this little story:

When I was a youngster my friends and I decided it would be cool to make a fire. So I went into the drawer where my parents keep the matches. They caught me, and whuped my ass!

We're talking a book of matches here. Now Imgine if I was illigally stockpiling weapons and explosives?

Plus at the moment they suspected I was hiding any contraband from them there would be a search-and-seizure PDQ!

If I so much as fathom a guess: I'd say the parents of these kids could give a rat's ass what thier kids were up to...just so long as they weren't being bothered.

They could have been off building a suspention bridge, or curing cancer....or making bombs...eh, same diff..... [roll]

Problem is you can't whip kids asses anymore. And that inlays the problem if you as me.

Back in the South, you still can. As as far as I know, they still hand out licks in school. But who knows, it's been a very long time since I was in High School. So things might have changed.

I do have a friend that works in Child Services in Ohio, and she tells me that it's still legal to give a kid between the ages of 2-11 an open hand spanking on a clothed butt.

I'm not sure about that here. I haven't had to test it because I guess that when I get upset, my voice is enough to keep my daughter in line. And she really hates sitting in a chair stairing at the corner. So when I say "Time-out" or "You're going to bed." She changes her tune pretty quick.

Now that's a news story I would love to see....

New Bridge appears over River

Local teens in a massive construction project in the middle of the night errected a new bridge over the river. Officials and parents are stunned.

"He was such a quiet boy, I would have never expected this kind of thing from him" one parent said.

Officials, while pissy that their authority and permission were not sought prior to the bridge construction are actually quite impressed with the work. "Damn fine bridge. Keystone arch construction is similar to old style stone bridges, but the precision of the stone fitment shows some very impressive skill. I suspect that this bridge will be here a long time."

Residents were mixed on the new overpass. "Well, it's nice to have another way across that allows us to avoid the congested downtown area." said one resident. Another had this complaint "If they allow this teens to get away with this, pretty soon, we'll have kids building illegal nuclear plants and supplying surplus energy all over the state. "

When asked about how they planned the bridge, one teen replied "We built it on the computer and then had the computer tell us exactly how to cut the stones. Everyone was assigned some stones and then we just scheduled the assembly. the computer would call our cell phones and we'd deliver the next piece. Went smoothly from what I saw."

As for the heavy equipment needed? "Well, I did borrow my dad's front end loader, but we paid for all the diesel ourselves."

Roadway improvements to use the new bridge will be discussed at the next planning board meeting, but students warn the town to "not drag their collective asses or they might wake to find that the roads are completed."

Mr. Farmer, the owner of the land on both sides of the river, only had one comment to make. "I think those kids did a good thing here and if the town doesn't lay off them, I'm going to put up a toll booth and charge any town official $1000 to use this bridge while everyone else is free."

Rumors have started that the ringleaders of the project, which have not been identified as of yet, are planning on running for town offices next spring.

THe other kid lived up this way for a while. His father was stationed at Plattsburg AFB, across the lake.

About Columbine, I blame the teachers and school staff.

"Trenchcoat Mafia, how cute. Let's put it in the yearbook."

IDIOTS. That was a cry for help if I ever saw one. The 2 were constantly being bullied by the "jocks". THe school staff knew, but chose to do nothing.

Chris Belive it or not somthing kinda like that happened in South Portland Maine in the early 80s.

Some kids (Probably sneaking into the woods to drink, smoke pot, et al) decided to clear some land, and take the lumber they used and made a real-deal log cabin (With interlocking logs, and mud chinking) and they set up a little club-house for themselves.

Who knows what they used the place for....and of course it was all done on private land without permission.

I was just wee at the time, so I don't know if this cabin got any press. Still it was kinda a local wonder at what great arcitecture was done by who we had labled as "Burn outs". 8)

So it's not TOO far off.

The drug compnaies, school phycologists, and liberals who push this shit on kids should be shot on site.

Same who push all the homo b/s in schools too. No wonder were last in everything now.

totally agree! I am a man living with Attention Deficit Deisorder (Yeah I was diagnosed before ther term ADHD was invented) I was given medication AND social counseling so I could learn how to cope with it. The Medicine was just a CRUTCH back then, not the Prostesis it is now. I was on them for maybe 2 years, and I've never turned back. Maybe some things are a little more difficult for me to do than the norm....but maybe some things I can do are EASIER.

Today's society is for some odd reason striving for some "norm"....but you gotta remember that there really isn't such thing as a coin that flips EXACTLY 50 times Head and 50 times tails.

We're all different, and we shouldn't WANT drugs to make us like everybody else....nor should we need them.

And then there's the issue of every little boy being issued ADHD Meds if he has any Energy...and probably Anti-depressants to those who don't. The ethics of this are totally rediculous.

These Medications are like guns, they're TOOLS, and ANY tool can be misued.

From what I remember about Columbine, they were not bullied by the jocks but openly sought confrontation with them. They would routinely pick fights with the jocks and engage them as groups.

The "they were picked on by the in-crowd" is more Hollywood fantasy that makes for a better, albeit incorrect, story.

Also, from what I recall, the remnant of the shotgun barrel that they sawed down was left on the kid's bureau and had been there for quite some time. IOW, had the parents even put their heads into the kid's room they'd have seen it and might have figured out something was up.

That's another sore point with me. Look up the girl that bought them three of the four weapons. She WAS NOT CHARGED with a SINGLE crime even though she bought guns and ammunition for two people who were both ineligible (one was on mental meds and the other was not of age). Yet she walked. Completely free.

Law-abiding gun owners suffered in the wake of Columbine, and yet someone who broke MULTIPLE FEDERAL LAWS gets off scot-free.

And yet the antis wonder why we oppose any form of gun control...

Sorry... This is one of my sore spots.

No apologies needed. It's a sore spot for me as well.

Did any of you realize that of all the recent school shootings, they all have one thing in common except one of them (Jonesboro, Ark)?

Every time except for Jonesboro, the students that were interviewed after saw it coing, and EVERY time, the educators didn't see it coming. Makes you wonder what kind of MORONS are running these schools.

In Jonesboro, neither the students, or the school staff/teachers saw it coming.
